Default Homeopathy in Dubai

I was just wondering if anyone could fill me in on how being a homeopath works in Dubai please. I have the opportunity to go out there in the near future for a year or so and was wondering if I would be able to practice whilst there. What is the legal and registration situation?

Any advice on homeopathy in the UAE would be greatly appreciated please!

Thanks,

GF

It is definitely legal to practise homeopathy there. I'm not sure what the details are for gaining registration - but I gather it's fairly straight forward.

Goldfish,

In UAE homoeopathy is legally accepted. In order to get registration, you have to pass enterasnce examination, followed by oral examination.
My elder brother is practising in Dubai. You can contact him at

Thank you both of you. Do you know if it is necessary to be registered in order to practice or is the situation the same as the UK where there is no legal requirement to join a register?

Thanks again

GF, are you saying that there is no legal requirement to be registered in the UK in order to be allowed to practice homeopathy ? Are you sure about that ?

Does that mean that anyone can claim to be a practicing homeopath in this country regardless of education or qualifications ?

Blue Bubble, you can do a google search on qualifications for UK to find out exactly what you're asking.

I just read what every one wrote about practicing in U.A.E.Well as far as i know there are 2 exams, which are to be given in order to practice in dubai or U.A.E.The first 1 is a writen exam probebly more like M.C.Qs and the other is an interview.in interview there are four people who ask different quesions, while one amongst them is going to be a homoeopath.u have to pass both the exams.

Lisa, this turns out to be much more difficult than you try to portray.

As far as I can determine (so far), there appears to me to be no requirement whatsoever to be allowed to practice homeopathy in the UK. There are indeed several bodies where one can register (i.e. where you're allowed to put the letters behind your name - MARH, MFHom, FFHom, MHMA, FHMA, RSHom, FRHom, LSHom - presumably with some requirement on educational level achieved), but there doesn't seem to be any impediment to restrict anyone actually practicing homeopathy.

Is this actually the case ? If not, can you please point me to some definitive decree that would, for example, prevent me from opening up a homeopathy practice (I do have a good university degree in Computer Science from Edinburgh University, not that that should matter, so I can legitimately put B.Sc. behind my name).

In other words, would the original poster meet with any legal restrictions should he/she wish to practice in the UK ? Seems an easy question to answer ...

Thank you once again for the advice re dubai. Ali Qureshi - so am I to understand that I would legally have to pass the exams before I could practice, even if I am already a registered member of a UK association? Do you know how long this process takes please? If I am only to be out there for a year then maybe I would be better off putting my practice on hold.

Bluebubble - I have a diploma in homeopathy (after 4 years study!) and a practice in the UK already. You are right though that at present there is not really any law to prevent anybody from setting up as a homeopath. There are a number of registers and associations in the UK, which certain standards are required to join, but there is no obligation at present to join any of them. This should all change in the next few years with the introduction of a single register and voluntary regulation. Hope that answers your question.
