Tuesday, September 20, 2005 (New Delhi):
Students of 240 medical colleges in the country will soon be presented with a brand new curriculum, as the Health Ministry is planning to revamp the existing syllabus. The new syllabus will be an integration of modern Allopathic medicine and traditional Indian schools of medicine like Homeopathy, Ayurveda and Yunani. The alternative schools of medicine will also have to incorporate modern medicines in their syllabus. In the coming weeks, a committee of representatives from the HRD and Health Ministries will be set up to finalise the key elements in the course. The medical syllabus and course design in the US and Korea are being considered for this task. The decision to integrate the ancient with the modern comes at a time when alternative sciences like Ayurveda and Homeopathy are facing criticism from many other countries. But the government says it is confident that these systems which have been in use for ages will work. Plans are now underway to set up centers where these medicines can be scientifically validated. __________________ Dr.A.Kannan MD(Hom) www.homoeodoctor.com |
