Default Can anyone help please? Optic Neuritis

Hello everyone, Three years ago I suffered an attack of Optic Neuritis in my right eye, which I believe was due to over-sensitivity, after several years treatment with various remedies, some of which I became very aggravated by - particularly Aconite. My constitutional remedie is Calc Carb.

The optic neuritis attack came shortly after I had over- used Belladonna 6c. I went blind in my right eye, and then the sight gradually came back. No allopathic treatment was given.

I did not take any remedies after this, being too alarmed and scared I might do more harm than good.

In June, three years exactly from the first attack, I had tremendous pain, in both eyes, was unable to sleep for this, and have been unable to go outside because of light-sensitivity. It was diagnosed as another Optic Neuritis attack, but is so different from the first, and no blindness, just the dim vision.
At first, I couldnt open my eyes because everything was too bright. I am now in the position of having to wait for referrals to neurologist to check for MS. I have no other symptoms except the eye ones that would apply to MS.

My dilemma is - do I try homoeopathy again, or is it too late? Would I do further damage to my eye? The materia medica for Calc Carb fits the whole so well - but I would go to a homeopath again since a little knowledge in my hands has proved very dangerous to me. Could being so hypersensitive continue to do further nerve damage?

My apologies if this post is a bit long, but I have much faith in homoeopathy and would like to try it again, but am afraid.(A large gust of wind whilst taking Aconite had my off my feet for 5 weeks.)

Many thanks for any opinions , Laurene.

passkey has a little shameless behaviour in the past
Default You have developed

a supersensitivity of the retina. This often happens when people are put on antibiotics and you then see them walking about on a grey day with dark glasses.

First time I have come across it as a result of homeopathy, pity I am all in favor of self administartion , but can appreciate your fear.

THe most likely thing to alleviate/cure is Natrum mur.

I would use 10m but 30c may do the job -- one a day for 7 days (stop if improvement occurs ) -- and wait 2/3 weeks to judge results.

If you know for definite that calc is your constitutional I would try a dose of that.
It certainly has photophobia in its picture.

Post Optic Neuritis

As neuritis usually is associated with other and more serious diseases, the treatment should,as a rule,be directed to general condition or cause. In my opinion if Cal carb is the constitutional, you can take LM potency of the same in alternate method like 0/1,0/3,0/5 and stop when you feel slight aggravation. That will do.

Hello again, Many thanks to everyone for their advice, and I am going to order the recommended potencies of both remedies, and work out where to begin to try and repair the damage done.

Passkey, It was very interesting that you wrote about people with sensitivities to antibiotics. It was overuse of the same that brought me to homoeopathy some years ago. I would be very interested to know more about their effects on the eyes - are there any past threads or links that are applicable do you know?

Again, thanks to all, I am most grateful. Laurene
