Default Question for Passkey regarding infant reflux

Hi
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
I have read your post regarding infant reflux & silica marina being the remedy.
I have a 5 1/2 month old with reflux.
I ordered the 6x Silica Marina but they were out of stock so I got the 12x instead.
My baby is primarily breast fed. I nurse him one or twice at night & all morning & afternoon, & right before bed time he takes one bottle.
What time should I take the Silica marina?
Should I just take one pill half before I feed him (once a day?) or every time before I feed him?
How many days sould I continue this for?
Can I give him the silica marina directly?
I would really appreciate it if you could give me some guidance as I am completely new to homeopathy & would really like to avoid giving my baby any medications.
Also, I started him solids recently, rice cereal, & carrots. He seems to be quite gassy.
He stools are not constipated but he always straining to go & thats seems to make the spit ups worse. He seems to be somewhat better for a while when he poops. Otherwise he always arching his back & straining & spitting up.
Any advice would be really appreciated.
Thanks again.
tired & worried mom

Default Options

you can either take the pill yourself -- about an hour before breast feed . Do this once a day for a week and then stop . Only start again if the problem returns.

or

You can put it in the bottle each day for 3/5 days , and wait , only repeat if the problem returns.

I just wanted to update you on my son's reflux. Its been a week today & I have been seeing a major improvement in him since the last 3 days.
His reflux is not completely gone but its atleast 75-80% better.
He still spits up a few time during the day & has some silent ones, also burps a lot, but overall big improvement.
Like you said, I will hold off on the pills unless he starts to spit up the same way again.
Thanks so much for taking the time to advise. God bless.

Default teething question

Since you have been so kind as to advise me previously, let me ask you if you have a remedy for teething. My son is cutting his first tooth, biting furiously & extremely gassy. He seems to have a tummy ache because of the gas. He keeps waking up at night because of it.
Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Default THREE things show up

Podophyllun may be the best bet -- used low say 6x the same way as the Sil, but NOT at the same time.
Otherwise --
If plump and pale try Calc carb
If slimish , slight tan to skin Calc phos.

Default update

Hello Passkey
I just wanted to give you an update on my baby.
The silica marina works very well on him. He gets better for a few days & then the reflux tends to return in a week or so. At which point I start giving the pill to him in his bottle for 5 days.
I haven't tried the remedy you suggested for teething yet. But I probably soon will.
Thanks very much again for your help. He still spits up but he is way better than before. Its a big big relief!

Bdk77,
You mentioned you are new to homeopathy.
You initially posted asking for help with dosing because you read about a remedy someone else used for reflux. Now you are asking for help with another problem in the same baby. If the reflux is returning and you keep having to give the baby silica marina -- then this indicates it's likely not the right remedy(!).

Please be aware that in homeopathy we take the whole case and then prescribe a remedy that covers all the current symptoms (however 'unrelated' the symptoms may seem to a layperson). We do not (should not!) suggest specific remedies for specific symptoms; this only confuses the vital force of your baby and could potentially be dangerous (suppressive).

It's better to present all the symptoms your baby is having. Then - and only then can someone analyse the case (properly) and come to a remedy choice based on symptom similarity. Anything else is tantamount to allopathic prescribing.

Lastly, if I were you - I would try to find a homeopath you can consult in person.

Best wishes,
Lisa Annan
