My 8 mo old baby boy came down with croup last week. He still has a very nasty cough. I treated him with Aconite 30c, one dose. It didn't help a lot, so a dosed him with Spongia 30c the next day. He recieved Spongia 30c once a day for three days. His symptoms then went to Hepar Sulf. He has had two doses of Hepar Sulf. 10x in the last two days. It seemed to help quite a lot.
My question: I know Hepar Sulf is one of the longest acting remedies. For a case like this, how often should I dose with 10x? Should I not dose every day, or is that okay since this is an acute case? I should mention that the Hepar Sulf. also seems to be acting on a more chronic problem, a recurring impetigo rash. Thanks for any help or insight! |

No I'm not a homeopath, but I've been acute prescribing for myself and my family for about 15 years. I've studied quite a bit, but obviously there are huge gaps in my knowlege. I always thought that the way I learned to prescribe is classical, but apparently it's not. I'm just learning when it comes to classical prescribing.
Okay, that makes sense. I think I probably overdosed him because he seems to be having an aggravation today with his eczema. The reason I dosed him twice is because the instructions on the bottle said to give it 1 to three times per day. That sounded like a bit much to me since hepar is one of the longest acting remedies, so that's why I decided to ask before dosing him again. So glad I came here! To tell you the truth, I'm really not sure what to look for as to when to dose him again. I usually know when a switch in remedies is required, but redosing is always very confusing to me. But it sounds like he'll probably be over this cough before the remedy has stopped acting. It is doing something to his rash, though. And it would be helpful to know when to redose if there's a chance it could help heal that. The remedy is Boericke and Taffel, 10x potency. I gave 2 lactose tablets dry and crushed. |

Hello
Less is better .....waiting is better....unless you are absolutely sure, then progress. To dispense a homeopathic remedy in water letting it disolve then succusing it prior to each sip taken (if so needed that is) is better in my opinion. The succusing 10x prior to a sip of this 'water' brings the potency up slightly this way your not constantly giving the 'same' potency over and over and over. (that does nothing). The water acts like a vehicle for the remedy and distributes it all over the body. The bottle directions are nonsense, one granule sized #10 poppyseed is all you need(that is actually the size of a 'poppy' seed) That small. To place a crushed 'tablet' of a remedy is like several doses. I'm sure other homeopaths will jump in on this discussion and tell you what works for them,This is a wonderfull forum for learning. Yes, I usually use the #10 granules, but I didn't happen to have this particular remedy and had to buy it at a health food store. That's interesting about successing in water, I didn't know that would increase the potency.
I'm just watching and waiting, and he does seem to be improving faster than he would have without the remedy. |
