Default Sabal Serrulata/Saw Palmetto - can it give a falsely low PSA reading?

Hello, I am treating a patient who has recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer. He has been taking Saw Palmetto in herbal form for many years and during the last few weeks (whilst waiting to hear and hearing his diagnosis) I have prescribed him Sabal Serrulata 3x 3 times daily.

His PSA level is "low" according to his consultant, but my patient has heard somewhere that Saw Palmetto can lead to a false low PSA reading.

I assured him that Saw Palmetto in homeopathic potency would not lead to this false reading, but does anyone know anything about Saw Palmetto leading to a falsely low reading - my patient is quite anxious about this.

Best Wishes
Kara

Default Sabal Serr

The only reason that there is a low PSA reading is that the Sabal is doing its work. It has a long tradition , both raw as a herb , and potentised as a homeopathic remedy for prostate problems.
