You just have to take the case as an ACUTE case, as you would do any other acute case. That is, you ask the patient what their symptoms are, when they started, how quickly they started and what makes any of these symptoms better or worse. You also need to ensure that you get complete symptoms too. Also, look out for any strange, rare and peculiar symptoms that could lead you to the remedy and any changes from the normal state. So if they said that they were normally quite hot blooded, but felt chilly now they are unwell with a fever, you would take this into account in the case. Also, if they said that they were thirstless with fever, as this is quite unusual to be thirstless with a fever.

You also need to be able to separate out the chronic picture from the acute picture too. So, just take the case as you would do with any acute case and give the remedy that then best matches that symptom picture.

Basically, any homeopathic remedy can be used to treat fever if it fits the patient's case/symptoms.

Thank you Sarah

Is there any book which provide help in treating common fevers step by step for beginers because its very difficult to evaluate symptoms. I mean which symptom I should ask first? Normally we check temperature... If the temperature is high then which step I have to take? which symptoms I have to ask related to high fever?

Look at the patient's disposition.

Is he restless frequently turning over in bed from side to side,,or is he just lying without moving like a log?

If he is restless, ask further questions,is he moving because of pains in limbs,or is it because the bed is making him sore,or is it just restlessness?

Chech his tongue.

Ask about his thirst?

Does he have headache? When did it start?

When is the fever rising? The time?

Is he perspiring some times? Is the fever getting reduced when he perspires?

Are there clear cut stages of heat, chill and sweat?

If so what are the charecteristics?

There are so many things you have to ask and observe. These are just samples.

Whatever medicine you choose,it should cover as many symtoms and modalities as possible, and better to give water doses, frequently, at least once in an hour.If your medicine is right, generally, you should see results wthin six doses. If not think again, and change the medicine,if required.

Unfortunately, there is no hard and fast rules.I am lucky,in the sense that I could abort fevers in my family within less than two days.Never used any antibiotics, since I started using homeopathy.

Initially,it looks so confusing,as you feel the patient has symptoms that tally many medicines. You will learn by experience .Keep trying.

I suggest,if possible, see the patient at bedside. That will give lot more inputs.
