I was referred here by K. Philpot, and have some questions that I need help finding answers to. They're all related, so I'll just tell a small story, and then quiz away! A few months back my son got a bug bite while at daycare, and the provider there advised my fiance to pop it to let the toxins out. It became infected with staph and produced a boil. We rushed him to the emergency room, where CPS was called on us. They thought that we had waited for the infection to get out of hand before taking him in out of negligence, and we were behind on vaccines. I do not want to vaccinate my child anymore. After a devastating wreck, our financial affairs went askew, and we had put off getting him a new pediatrician (we are new to this area) gladly, because 1. I have had VERY bad experiences with them, and the only one I ever liked is back where we're from and 2. Our son is usually very very healthy! Last week or so, however, my son came down with another bug bite, which in the course of a day turned into another boil, and as he was staying with my mom, she took him to the ER again. They gave him a shot and prescribed a medicine that we were unable to fill, because we were waiting for medecaid to pay for this $100 drug, and in meantime, our puppy chewed it up. When we called the ER to have them call the drug into the pharmacy, they told us we needed to take him to the pediatrician for another prescription. I've heard that staph is either from malnutrition or uncleanliness. Our house is almost always very clean, but he is a picky eater. By now, though, the boil is healed, and a few more little tiny ones came up, but have since healed as well, using warm compresses and the likes. So, my questions: 1.) Is there a way to induce him into better eating habits, which might keep him from getting these again? 2.) Is there a way to treat these to make them heal faster than warm water compresses? (And without ER help, hopefully?) 3.) Anyone know resources where I can find a homeopath near Waco, Tx? 4.) How do I fight for my right to skip vaccines; is there a waiver or exemption I can get for him, and how can I go about getting it? What about when school starts? 5.) I just got over a three-day cold, and my son is picking it up. It is MUCH less uncomfortable for him as it was for me, and there are no negative effects on him other than perhaps drowsiness and the occasional runny nose, but does anyone have a remedy that might help things for him? With no interference, mine passed rather quickly. Thank you for your help, I am sorely needing it! Just answer what you can if you can! |

Hi kittie-noir,
In answer to your first question - diet alone won't prevent him from developing boils. But obviously a good diet is important to anyone. Homeopathic treatment can get to the root cause of your son's problem - with good, sound treatment. The nearest homeopath (that is good!) that I know of is in Houston. I don't know of any good ones in Dallas. I know of a couple that I wouldn't go too, but I won't name names here. I know Houston is really far away for you and not practical with your financial situation.... Maybe you could consult someone online - there are a few good practitioners available. I personally wouldn't give anything for a cold other than lots of fluids and maybe some chicken soup . Or whatever it is he desires to eat.Think of a cold as a kind of clearing out - it's okay as long as it runs its course within the normal time colds usually last (7-10 days). As long as there are discharges flowing - and its resolving on its own - don't interfere. If he develops a cough and it's productive and doesn't linger on and on - just leave it to resolve on its own. As for the vaccine issue - each state is different. I know you can claim religious exemption but I'm not sure how to do it. Here is a link on exemptions that might help answer those questions: http://www.gval.com/exempt.htm Sheri Nakken has got a wealth of data/information on her website: http://www.nccn.net/~wwithin/vaccine.htm Her email is homeopathycures@tesco.net if you need to speak with her directly. (her email is listed in her posts where she posts on the homeopathy list discussion found on http://www.otherhealth.com/homeopathy-list-discussion/ ) I hope this helps somewhat. Best wishes - Lisa

Hi!
Thanks! I personally do not do anything for my colds except [try to] get rest and let it run its' course, but I just feel so BAD having my son run around without doing anything about it except giving him fluids, y'know? But then, that's mostly because of my mother harping on when she drives up to visit, and the fear that someone's going to come into my home and think I'm a bad parent because I am not putting more toxins into him to suppress the problems.. Ick!! They are pretty far away, but what I'm looking at now is either going to a pediatrician that will make me WAIT 3 hours (this happened last time we had an appointment) and who will lecture me about not vaccinating, or drive an hour and a half to see someone who I am confident in, and who will hold some of the same beliefs as me. I am willing to make a trip for peace of mind and trust. I am just afraid of what to do in emergencies.. Hopefully I will have online gangs like you to help me, or an online homeopath, or even the distance practitioner to assist me by phone. As to the vaccinations exemptions, the nice lady that referred me here has given me lots of great resources on this! Turns out that Texas allows both religious and philosophical exempts that I should be able to get through the Health Department without too much trouble. The boils.. meh. That's what I was thinking. As I've had told to me earlier, I believe the real problem is being suppressed with antibiotics, and when the antibiotics are wearing off, they reoccur. I'm searching for ways to get my son to eat better (but he's still gaining/maintaining weight excellently) to hopefully boost his immune system, but he's always been pretty picky. He's basically vegan, and will not eat anything that is meat in any form. It's like he knows, no matter how we disguise it, LOL. He also mainly will only eat green beans and noodles - any kind. That's his current favourites. I don't think he's malnourished, but it's the only thing I can think of that could be a contributing factor.. Anyway I will stop jabbering and see if anyone else has any input. Thanks for the help! |
