Smile hot flushes?? homeopath wants suggestions

Hello everyone

Im a newly qualified homeopath and havnt been on this forum for a while but having difficulty with a case of mine and would appreciate some advice form other homeopaths.

My patinet is a 68yr old lady who has just come off HRT after 30 years and is suffering from severe hot flushes both in the day and very profuse at night, so much so she has to have a towel on her pillow. She feels better for having fresh air and after she sweats she can feel quite chilly. Because she is not sleeping well due to teh hot flushes she feels very drained and tired all teh time. she has profuse perspiration and can be dripping with sweat. There is no odour with teh sweat and she doesnt go very red but can go red in the face sometimes during a hot flush. She has noticed she is experiencing moments of anxiety but does not no why. She has noticed a patch of small blister like spots on regions which get very hot in a flush like under her breast it looks like a blister rash she has had this before. sweat is worse on head but when sweat has passed she does feel cold. SHe is quite a closed lady and did not find it easy to talk about herself at all. so found it very difficult to get any relevant info out of her. she was timid as a child but not now, she has no fears / phobias, very tidy orderly lady. She has no motivation at th emoment and no enthusiasm to do anything teh sweats are making her feel very down. Says her appetite has decreased and says she cant be bothered with eating at the moment. Apart from teh anxiety attacks she experiences there are no otehr major emotional problems. she does suffer quite regularly with a headache over teh eyes. I have prescribed sepia 30c which had no effect and then sulphur 30cwhich made her slightly worse but with no relief after a month. Any suggestions would be great as i am really struggling with this one. Please reply asap as i am seeing her again this week. Thanks so much i apprciate any help!!

Pip

Hello Pip
Did your lady come off HRT suddenly or gradually?

i find it best to gradually reduce the dosage otherwise a rebound reaction like this can occur- especially after 30 years!

As the sepia hasn't done anything I would move on to Folliculinum - 1 dose 30c daily for 3 days. There may be a slight aggravation but it will soon subside.
Follic can work very quickly in cases like these.
The other remedy I have used in similar cases is Emerald

Once the flushes have been dealt with you can then go onto prescribe her costitutional.

Smile Thankyou

Thanks Hoppitt

My patient came off HRT suddenly. I will certainly look into both of the remedies you sugegsted, iv not had much experience with emerald so i will be intrested to read about that. After speaking with my patinet today i have gained some new relevant info. firstly i asked her about having clothes / scarves around her neck (as i was thinking of lachesis as i know this can be good for hot flushes) she replied and said she cannot bear things around her neck or tight clothing as it makes her anxious, she has to wear loose clothing that doesnt cover her neck. Also when i quizzed her more about the blisters that had formed in hot areas they do look like scales. The severe night sweats also could be lachesis. What do you think or do you think it is still pherhaps better to go in with folliculinum?? Thanks so much!!

I would treat with the folliculinum first. If you have Melissa Assilems's book read up on it- she thinks that Foll can ' unhook the receptor cells that have been activated or deactivated by the use of HRT' and help the body withdraw from it.

Hi Dr Leela
The menopause (NHS) clinic that was interested in offering Homeopathy were not able to fund it- so the old old story again- all down to money!!!

Default Hot

There are a couple of points here ;- it will often point to a remedy if the point on the body where the hot flushes start is located, I cured one case where the flushes started in the diaphragm.
2; a leading and important point is the inability to bear tight clothing round the waist or throat, as Kent says under Lachesis --the skin is so sensitive to the touch of the clothing that hoops are sometimes needed to relieve the suffering from the touch of the clothing. The headache also sounds a bit like Lach. Do the problems start on waking ?. Study lachesis.
3 . If there is a desire for tidiness this can point to Ars Alb- might be worth looking up.
