Default Constitution

Sometimes it is possible to have too much info . and items that point in differing directions . I have sometimes found it necessary to follow a method of Compton Burnett . Who advised picking on one of the most likely remedies to start and then take the case again . But imagine that I shall be howled down for this imprecision.

Default Hahnemann

After the last posting I found that Hahnemann used the method of using a ladder of remedies - so go howl at him.

I am surprised that this thread was discontinued at this stage.

Let us discuss further.

I just re read the 150 odd introductory pages of Hannemann's 'Chronic Diseases.'

He always talks about treating the present symptoms only,at each and every stage. He is very clear of what a symtom is."The change from his previous healthy state."

He talks about a series of remedies, and is very emphatic that, chronic diseases definitely need more than one medicine.

Now,regarding the 'constitutional types', I have the following questions.

If we have to depend strictly on symptoms produced by provers during 'proving' why all this discussion about blondes, lean and obese people?

If a person is 'chilly' since birth,it will never be a symptom for consideration. Why bother about it?

There was another argument that any deviation from 'normal' is to be considerd for constitutional treatment.Who decides what is normal?

Assuming that, there is a constitutional remedy, what does it do,for a person, obviously in good health, but mentally perverted, say a hardened criminal? Will his constitutional remedy make him 'normal'?

Vithoulkus says even Calc carb can be warm in childern, and it becomes chilly only at later stages. So,chilliness is a symptom for those people.
Does all predominently chilly medicines, have this opposite trait, during childhood,as obviously,we can consider it as a symptom, only then?

Is it not rather far fetched to say Kalis have these qualities and carbons have these qualities, and hence combine the symtoms of these two and say Kali Carb is such and such type of a person?

If that is the case why howl so loudly about combinations, when they too say,a similar thing, that each individual medicine will cure the symtoms,it is supposed to work upon?

Are we not too naive to accept any new theory without thinking twice?

Is it not the reason, why homeopathy is not able to show uniform results?

Is it not possible that all of the homeopaths arrive at a small group of medicines,if only the 'altered state' is considered for prescription, without bothering about all these grandoise theories?

Is it not true that there is no single instance of 'cure' by the constitutional remedy, without having recourse to any other medicine? Then, why do we harp on it so much?

Is it not better to follow the simple path shown by people like 'Hannemann' and 'Kent"( despite his often contradictory stands,he always used a series of medicines)?

Smile well...

It's been a great discussion - thanks! But do not stop!

Going back to the case Hans analyzed: any of the "finalists" might cure, righ?
could it be that phosphorus, which didn't make it to the top, would push the case forward too? (what if all the remedies that were more accurate hadn't been discovered yet?)

to Murthy (and off the topic)
Combinations may cure too! But no homeopath will ever prescribe them because he/she doesn't know if (accepting Vithoulkas explanations):
1. there are vibrational rates of all components SEPARATELY
2. there is just one- all combined

Default miasms

Seems that I'll be not able to go to Ireland this November--sorry to miss your seminar Hans.
But the miasms are very intriguing. Do you consider miasms in your practice?

I read Banerjee-Chronic disease-its cause and cure --in which he says that you group symptoms according to the miasms--and first deal with the predominant one. remedy is chosen not accord to totality but acc. to symptoms of the predominant miasm (and among the remedies anti-that miasm).
