I am just beginning my exploration of homeopathy, prompted by my father's frustration with most foods tasting too salty. I googled "everything tastes too salty" and spent an evening reading, and am amazed and interested, but also confused. Where do I start? I live near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA and there are a few practitioners in this area but the one that seemed closest charges almost $300 for a "take this survey and I'll get back to you" option. That took me by surprise and raised a lot of questions. Some of which are: Is this really something that a person can do without the guidance of a practioner? How can I identify a practioner that is good vs. someone who isn't? Is it important to deal only with practitioners who belong to a professional organization?

Gracie, I'm so happy that you are looking into homeopathy. There are several avenues to pursue. You are lucky that you are in PA! There are a lot of good homeopaths in your area.
Here are some referal pages. This first one are all classical homeopaths, that is they follow Hahnemann's writings. There are many good homeopaths who are not on this list, but the ones on the list are definitely good. http://www.homeopathy-cures.com/html...nnsylvania-New The next is the National Center for Homeopathy. They have a practitioner's list and also a study group list. I highly recommend you get involved in the study group to learn more about homeopathy. Study groups also have a good handle on who the best homeopaths are in the area. http://homeopathic.org/index.html There is a lot of information you can get through the internet. If you send me your e-mail address, I will send you a list of sites. There are sites you can enter your case into and there are sites you can post your case on. There are also two sites where you can read excellent introductory books about homeopathy. 'Homeopathy: Beyond Flat Earth Medicine' - http://www.beyondflatearth.com/index.html And 'Demystifying Homeopathy' - http://www.homeopathicmedicalclinic....pathy/english/

I should have elaborated... the one doctor from the first list specializes in eye problems only... although, since he is in the area, I may contact him for a recommendation.
I also just remembered that a good friend of mine has a son-in-law-to-be that is studying to become an osteopath at Hahnemann. This whole time I kept thinking "boy that name seems familiar" and <lightbulb>.. it finally came to me. Maybe he knows of someone. I will definitely check out the study group suggestion. |
