A few days ago, I left a message in another homeopathy forum, and they suggested me to take NuxVom30 for my binge eating problem. But now I´ve read some of the discussions in this forum, I don´t know whether I should trust them. They asked me to describe what complaints I was facing due to binge eating, but they didn´t ask me if I had any other health problems. I was impressed when I read Snoopy`s questionnaire! I didn´t know all that information was required.
Anyway...I don´t know what to do now. I guess NuxVom is working (not sure because I started 3 days ago), but maybe there´s another homeopathic remedy that can help me with other things (asthma, depression, pain in the anckle and shoulder) at the same time?? I hope you can give some advice. Thank you Susana Barcelona (Spain) |

Hi Susana,
YEs without knowing your detailed history, we wouldn't be able to tell whether the Nux was working curatively (for the long term) or just as a short acting acute remedy. IF its helping you for the moment, its OK. BE careful how often you take it though. For the long term you need to see a homeopath who will take all your problems into account and treat you curatively over a period of time. All the best, dr. leela

is a psychological problem - down to unhappiness- if asthma is also involved , we are looking at a depleted immune system
Nux vom may work as a palliative but this case needs deeper analysis. Revising this to make a point , originally stated by Prof J H Allen in his book “Chronic Miasms”. I have found this point to be true in many cases of my own. It is , simply stated , that Binge Eating , Tobacco , Alcohol or addictions of any kind are attempts to fill a internal psychological/ emotional vacuum with a material substance . Obviously and always doomed to fail . I have had many cases of this type and quote 2 to illustrate the point . One was long ago , about 30 yrs , when a young woman who had a high pressure job and an unemployed male partner , came to me with an anal fissure. I took the case in great detail and made a prescription . In the course of the consultation it emerged that she was passionately interested in painting . I advised her to take one day a week to paint – to relieve the stress. After some time she reported that the fissure was gone and life was good . I said “Oh the remedy worked ok then “ She said “ I didn’t take it – it wasn’t necessary “ . This taught me a lesson – I always expect patients to teach me something. The second case was much more recent when a young 19 yr girl was sent to me by her hairdresser employer because she was addicted to cutting her arms with a razor blade . I took the case and prescribed remedies , but it was obvious to me that the problem was emotional/selfworth. It emerged during the consultation that she was deeply interested in Art History but lacking any scholastic qualification could not see any future for herself . Because I was studying at the Open University I had details of courses available . She entered for a course in Art History and never looked back. My point is that a homeopathic remedy is NOT always the answer. Last edited by passkey : 28th September 2004 at 10:25 AM. Reason: point of information |
