Default Pancreatitis

Does anyone have experience with pancreatitis (acute or chronic)?
What do you advise concerning diet during an acute attack? Other than just taking mild soup/broths and liquids only for a few days....

Regards,
Lisa

The exocrine pancreas also makes sodium bicarbonate, which helps to neutralise the stomach acids in the food.

When someone mentioned in other forum: that homeopathic treatment of Pancreatitis might suppressed & lead to AS(Ank.Spond.), I just thought if above pancreas sodium bicarbonate imbalances>>balances can do something alike AS. As far as I think--excess/high gastric acidity>>better digestion & so absorption of iron, calcium, B12, Folic acid & may be most minerals can probably have some miasmic relationship with AS.

Thanks Kayveeh, but that doesn't really answer my question. Or maybe I just don't understand what you wrote.

I've read different suggestions from limiting fat to only taking clear broths/soups - to outright fasting.

I want to know if anyone has had any patients with symptoms that are similar to what's known as pancreatitis and how their patients adjusted their diets while in pain.

For example; is yoghurt okay? Or a bland diet with grains only? Lean meat?
Or is it just a matter of each patient trying whatever food they feel won't cause them any pain after eating?

There was a discussion about diet in pancreatitis. You may find several relevant informations here.

Default pancreatitis

not really an answer but a matter of interest - I have used various homeopathic preparations in potency of Glands [ prostate, pituitary, pineal & thymus ] all based on Dr Agrawal's Materia Medica of Glandular Medicines .

Thanks kayveeh.

Passkey - that's interesting. Are you suggesting a remedy made of pancreas? Isn't that more an isopathatic approach than homeopathy?

I was curious - what can one advise in terms of diet while the acute flare up is going on? If there is a lapse of time between the time the patient gets in touch with you, or waits for a remedy to be posted or picked up, etc -- what practical dietary advice would one give, until a remedy can be chosen/given?

I did do a search and didn't really find much more than the suggestions I mentioned above. It seems that limiting fat and processed sugars is most important.

Default pancreas

Clarke in his " Clinical Repertory " Suggests for pancreatitis Atr , Kali Iod , Merc Sol
But under Pancreas disorders of Phos -- I have used Phos Acid in mild cases
Disease of,, Pancreatinum !.
I have used the glandular preparations in Potency with great success and , based on Agrawal. s Repertory , have taken Pineal with great benefit -- but like all remedies regardless of origin one must use details of the provings -- that is not isopathy .
To quote my book on Human Nutrition ... the diet is to be constructed mainly from carbohydrates and protein plus fruit a little chicken or white fish.
The problem arises mainly in alcoholics... also says that 60% of cases are tied in with biliary tract disease and gallstones.
If you would like a diet sheet from my book I will post one .
