Hi,

My sister-in-law has chronic lyme (10-15years). The symptoms of the lyme are cyclic and leave her bed-ridden with fever, headaches and rheumatic pains for a week or two followed by several weeks of less intense symptoms where she can function some.

She hasn't had a quick fix with homeopaths in the past and is unwilling to bother to go in to treatment (I've been trying to get her to go for 4 years!). She will allow me to treat her.
I am a beginner and know little about treatment methodologies, antidotes, whats complementary, miasmas etc.

Her symptoms are as follows:
1. Incompacitating occiput headache extends from base of neck up around and to forehead.
2. Rheumatic Pains - chest and hip are the worst
- Hip pain
- Intercostal pain (diagnosed with enlarged heart)
- Upper shoulder (Right should is worse, had shunt put in at one time)
Pains extend from hip and shoulders down extremedies
Pains wander and come on suddenly
Worse on motion
Worse at night
Burning Pain
Deadly Shooting Pain
Cold compresses relieve slightly better than hot compresses
Worse in hot humid weather
Better cloudy lo-humidity weather
3. Dizziness on movement and rising
4. Fever alternating with chills and cold clammy sweats.
Cycle can occur several times during a single day
5. Spontaneous bruising over body and extremedies

Remedy History is as follows:
Aug1 Ledum 30C No effect
Aug5 Ledum 200C Slightly reduced bruising.
Possible negative effect of escallating flu-like symptoms, hard to tell
because went off double antibiotics at same time.
Aug11 Staph. 20C for headache, the headache improved with this.
Aug15 Kalmia L. 30C, this reduced hip pain but pain came back after couple of days
Aug24 Kalmia L. 200C 3xDay for 3Days.
This immediately reduced hip pain but then pain came back.
Didn't influence fever/chill cycle
Sep7 Sepia 30C 1 pellet in water - Taking a slug on discomfort
This was for a kidney infection with strong bearing down pains and inability to urinate. She responded well to the Sepia, kidney problem looks to be resolved.

Overall summary Sep9th:
Not sure if Kalmia influenced headaches over the long term.
As of Sep 7 entered into another cycle of flu-like symptom with
headache but headache responds to allopathic medication in a few hours now rather than in a full day. Possibly better?
Also, even though in flu cycle, mind seems clearer and
disposition more confident. Maybe from Kalmia but maybe this is from Staph?

I'm not sure how to proceed. Should I give her Kalmia 1M for a stronger more comprehensive response or should I give her Med. or Carcinosin first to help the Kalmia stick?

P.S. I've been buying remedies from Ainsworth. Is this the best place to get them?

Hi Beach rose,
this conidition needs to be dealth with a chronic remedy based on the totality picture. We call this type of remedy the constitutional is it works at a very deep level as well. OFten it deals with the miasm as well and one does not need to take acutely indicated remedies one after another.
I don't think KAlmis is dealing with the whole picture.
