I am having trouble getting hold of Boericke's materia medica (ordered it from Amazon about 2 months ago and still waiting). However, I have been using the on-line version for one of my assignments. Could anyone tell me whether it is the same word for word or condensed.

Also, I notice the pocket version and the "new manual of homeopathic materia medica" version are widely available - are these essentially the same as the original materia medica? Will these suffice?

There's no reason why the online version should not be the same as the book.
But you could also order the book from B Jain publishers New Delhi. It is not expensive at all.
I have a Materia MEdica with Repertory (students version) - which is what is easily available here. I'm not aware of the pocket version.
