Talking irritable bowel syndrome and diverticulitis

hello,
i am new to this forum and i registered because i really would like to help my mother who is 82 with her ibs and diverticulitis problem. She has seen all kind of doctors and made all necessary tests, so to exclude other more serious desease.
her symptoms are
1 bloating,
2 passing little stools in different loo sessions,
3 feeling the need to pass stools but actually not be able to,
4 constipation
5 and waht 's worst almost constant cramps in the abdomen which limit and impair her quality of life.

She has been suffering from this syndrome for about 4 years and the only time she felt well (total remission of syntomps for 3 months) was when i told her to take NUX VOMICA ( tip that i found surfing here and there on teh net). After 3 months though the remedy didn't work anymore and when taken again after one year it had no effect at all.
Can anybody explain this and give tips on what might be useful for her?
It would be greatly appreciated
thanks everybody )))))

Usually you can't continue to repeat the same potency. If she really felt well on Nux-v, I would ascend the potency scale. As soon as a potency quits working, you go to the next one. If the higher potency doesn't work, then she is ready for another remdy and the case should be completely retaken.

If you are not a homeopath and you gave her Nux Vom 6 or 30C she quite likely needs a higher potency which you can only get from a homeopath. So do take her to a classical homeopath to have a full case taken.

tahnks for your reply.
my mom has been to an omeopath but though she told him about the nux vomica, he gave her other remedies which were ineffective or worsen her symptoms. Next monday is her last visit with the homeopath, who himself told her that if the last remedy he gave her brought no benefit well, yes she might well stop with treatment . this is why i am eager to know exactly waht potency of nux vomica she should take.
Hope you can give some advice .
thanks again
lucia

It depends on what potency she had last. You would just go to the next potency. 6x, 12x, 30x, 6c, 12c, 30c, 100c, 200c, 1m, 10m is the order. As Ricky says, if you need to go beyond the 30c, then you should see a homeopath. It sounds like you need to change homeopaths.

Thanks so much for the clarification.
Unfortunately i don't think you might help me find a good emeopath, as I'm Italian and i suppose you don't have connections here.
thanks a lot though,, i'll have to check out what nux vomica potency she took (unfortunately we no longer have the box)by asking the pharmacist where she bought it what sort of nux vomica they give if they are just asked for nux vomica without other specification. Once i establish what she got , i'll buy the higher potency,,
thanks so much again ))))

Here is a list of homeopathic organizations in Italy. One of them should be able to help you locate a good classical homeopath. Make sure the homeopath is a classical homeopath, i.e., takes a full case history of at least an hour and uses only one remedy at a time.

I was surprised, too, at how active homeopathy seems to be in Italy. Of course several very famous homeopathic researchers are working in Italy, so I guess it is well supported.
