Interesting symptoms, very, very unusual. I have a great deal of heat in the lower part of my spine, which rises up my spine and tingles the whole way up. When this happens, my heart will race and I will get anxious. The heat also causes me to feel emotionally unstable: panic, anger, feeling like I want to cry. This energy eventually makes its way up into my head. At this point I feel tingles all in my head, especially at the third eye point between my eyebrows. I get very, very sensitive. To touch, and to sound. When I am at my most sensitive, it is very weird, I can almost "see" sounds. It's like I see their shapes or forms, and also feel them in my body. I'm sure that sounds weird, but it's the only way I can describe it. Let's see, I'm also very sensitive to heat, and easily get dehydrated.
In some ways, I feel like this sensitivity could be a good thing if it weren't so overwhelming. When my symptoms are at their worst, I cannot concentrate at all. I have begun practicing a very down to earth concentration exercise that helps some. Oh, that leads me to something else: meditating. It's weird, ever since I started having these symptoms I get a great, great deal more out of meditation. I feel soooo relaxed, soooo good, then WHAM!-- I get an overwhelming sense of panic. So, because of this I have steered clear of meditation and am simply doing concentration excercises and trying to keep a good rythm an routine, etc. This seems to help me feel stronger. Other symptoms--possibly the most noticable is that my sex drive is extremely high. Too high. I am a male, and I am not sexually active, but I frequently have nocturnal emissions. After this happens, I feel very weak. Weak legs, knees, a feeling of sickness all in my body. I am a young man in my mid twenties and I know that I should have more fortitude than this. At least I used to. I once saw a Barbara Brennan therapist, a "psychic healer" with a scientific background. Alot of times, their work is similar to Reiki. As soon as I walked into the room, he said "I can see that you have a blockage in your second chakra." He said there was alot of blockage around my sacrum and around my hips. Later I went to a massage therapist who told me that I had large knots and major tension all in this area, the same area he said was blocked. In this area, and down my legs, I get muscle spasms. I thought I might want to throw that in there. In summary, I have an intense heat rising up my spine and into my head (oh, and pressure in my head) I have emotional problems because of this, I have extreme sensitivity, extreme sex drive, knots around my hips, racing heart, easily thirsty, shaking, trembling, spasming, and probably a bunch of other symptoms that I forgot to mention. But I hope that the symptoms I listed are at least a good start. |

Shirley- Interesting! I have a friend who went to a Waldorf school in Austin. I don't know too much Steiner, but am familiar with Theosophy and know that Steiner was a Theosophist when he was younger. I'm doing the concentration exercises in a book called "Concentration" by Earnest Wood, a Theosophist. What would you reccomend me read of Steiner's? Do you really think that my symptoms will start to go away by following some of his practicces?
baity- how is yr appetite- good if I work out, otherwise low are y thin or fat-thin, very are y noticing any weight reduction despite good appetite-yes, even if I have a good appetite it is hard to keep the weight on. do y notice palpitation and fast heart speed noticeable externally- my heart really feels weak. It might beat fast, but even if it isn't beating fast it feels thready like a needle thumpung against my sternum if that makes any sense. yes heat every where- usually, sometimes my feet are cold though, other times they are hot and I am hot everywhere. anguish short tempered-yes, mostly feeling unstable and a weired feeling as something gonna happen- if you mean dread or a feeling of doom like something bad will happen, yes. I'll feel anxious. Before all of this I wasn't really an anxious person at all. Now I worry about everything. do y also visualise that death is very near-not really. I feel like I will live for a long time, I'm not even thirty yet. But once, when the episode I had was most intense I felt like I was dying. Now I don't have near the intensity. This feeling is just a nuisance that comes and goes. I'd really like it to just go, though. |

While Steiner started the Waldorf schools and the teaching method is based on methods developed out of his philosophy, Steiner's philosophy is not taught at the schools and even some of the teachers know little about it outside of child development issues.
I think Steiner's methods can help to counter the problems you are having and move you toward your spiritual goals at the same time. While the end point of all esoteric practices is the same, the intermediate steps are often very different. Kundalini focuses on raising the kundalini energy up, while steiner focuses on bringing the spiritual energy down into the body. At some point, both methods result in a meeting of the spiritual and the physical. I think the best book for you to start with would be Guidance in Esoteric Training. I always like hard copies of my books, but you can read it on-line at http://wn.elib.com/Steiner/Books/GuidEsot.index.html

Shirly- Thanks for that link. You know, what you say makes alot of sense. I really feel like I'm too weak and need to get stronger. I looked at your link and all throughout the elib.com and read alot of Rudolf Steiner's stuff. Wow, that man was something else! And he seems so scientific compared to alot of new age people. They are too feeling oriented, and not as logical it seems.
I read through the guidance in esoteric training and then went to the bookstore and found several books there by Steiner. One is called "Start Now!" and it has tons of meditative exercises, including the ones in the book you linked me to. There is a section of exercises that Steiner says will help protect one as the move into the higher worlds that are supposed to be done on a six month cycle. They were in your link under "General Demands (subsidiary exercises.)" Am I correct in assuming that I should only do those exercises since I'm currently having problems? Or do you think that the "Main Exercise" would be healthy for me to do right now also? I read somewhere else in the elib that the Main Exercise is a cure for Alzheimer's and many other diseases. I've been told by someone in the theosophical circles to stay away from breating exercises. Charles Leadbeater had said that he has seen people's health completly ruined by them. Would the breathing exercises in the Main Exercise be the same thing? I only want to get stronger and better. Beattie- I had a thyroid test done a year ago when all this was at its worst and the doctor said it was normal. I'm having another one done, though, and I will keep you posted. |

I would do the initial exercises for the first six months, then add the daily exercises and after a few months of the basic and daily exercises, you should be stable enough to do the main exercise. Before Steiner developed his exercises, the only breathing exercises were of the Eastern esoteric traditions. The Western spiritual physiology is different enough that they could cause problems. Steiner developed his breathing exercises to work with the more Western spiritual physiology, so it will be safe. But you should become more stable before attempting it.
Steiner's spiritual path is very well grounded. It's often much slower than the more new age paths, but everything develops more fully along the way. I compare it to living in technicolor rather than black and white. Black and white is more dramatic and doesn't, but color is much more fulfilling.
