Default Pinworms

Dear friends,

I remember a long time ago there was a thread about headlice and it was commented that with homeopathy the children stop getting them, but before this happens, if they get it, then they should be gotten rid of by mechanical or other "non-homeopathic" ways.

I wonder is the same thing is true for pinworms? My daughter had a test on pinworms and they showed that she's infected. I would like to avoid drinking anything to kill them, but if one cannot hope that they go away by themselves with homeopathic treatment or with hygienic measures, then there is no choice.

Any comments are welcome,

thank you!

ElenaZ.

Default addition

As an addition I should say that she does not seem to have any symptoms indicating Cina, her sleep has always been disturbed, she has no itching in the nose or anus, so the treatment I'm talking of is "constitutional".

I have also done the search on the forum and noticed that Lisa Annan has suggested garlic vaseline in the past, I think I'll try this one -but for how long should one go on? How long do they live? THat is, when will they all suffocate?

THanks

ElenaZ

Hi Elena,

Their life cycle is about 6 weeks if I'm remembering correctly.
At one point toward the end of their lifecycle is when they come out to lay eggs and this is when children scratch and end up reinfecting themselves.
You won't see the pinworms until they are in the egg-laying stage -- and only then will you see them at night usually.

It's difficult to tell how long to use the garlic/vaseline. If she's already reinfected herself - then another life cycle begins (i.e. 6 weeks).

Make sure she's also eating garlic (if you can get her to eat food with garlic) - this helps!

Using the vaseline on the bottom smothers them when they come out to lay eggs. And I found it to be very effective. But, you have to use it every night for several weeks until you can see she's free of the pinworms.

One tip: when you insert whole cloves of garlic (peeled) into the vaseline - make sure the garlic is well covered and not exposed to any air - otherwise it will go off and become moldy. After a day or so, you'll see how strong the garlic smell is in the vaseline. I only used two or three small cloves in a medium sized jar of vaseline - and just pushed them far down into the jar.

As for the Cina -- don't prescribe that unless there are other clear indications for it aside from pinworms! As far as homeopathic treatment - just carry on treating her on the disease symptoms she exhibits. Just remember we don't prescribe on single symptoms or a single 'problem'.

Hope this is helpful.
Best wishes - Lisa

Thanks, Lisa!

I'll try that for 6 weeks from now, she must have reinfected herself several times already, at their kindergarten they were encouraged to play with earth and mud, so they all seem to have pinworms, at least the boy from the same kindergarten in her class has been found to have them too, and I have heard of others.

Thanks again,

ElenaZ

P.S. - my children don't get pinworms anymore - after being treated homeopathically. I think it's because they are no longer susceptible to them. They also don't seem to catch headlice anymore either!

edit: you only need to use a little vaseline on her anus -- I forgot to mention that. Also, if the other kids are reinfected - then you daughter will be at risk for reinfection as long as she's around other children. Kids don't wash their hands well enough when they are young and often can infect each other (just think of them all playing with the same toys - and little fingers go in mouths often!). After 6 weeks is up -- don't be surprised if she has one more round of them -- just go back to the vaseline and garlic until she's rid of them and you know the problem is resolved with the other kids too.

THanks, Lisa!

It is very helpful and encouraging. I think I will go for a couple of months and try to check then.
