Default colicie/constipated newborn

HI,
Haven't posted in quite sometime, guess all have been well. We have a new foster-baby who seems to be struggling w/ formula. He will be one month next week. He was full term, weighed in at 8 1/2 lbs and healthy. He was first on cow milk based formula. His mother reported her other children had been lactose intolerant so we changed to lactose free formula. It still did not seem to agree with him. He continued to spit up and cry, seeming gassy in his belly. He now is on a soy based formula, he spits up less but continues to cry, which appears to be gas related. Had him to MD last week who reported he was constipated, gave us glycerine supositories to give him on at night for 3 nights. Tried that but he continues to struggle. I've given him Nux, since he seems to want to but can't. He does fine during the night, waking up every few hours drinking milk and returning to sleep, but it's a different story during the day. He eats well, has been putting on weight, but he just seems in pain. When he cries and cries we often put him in a bowl of water which seems to calm him down and ussually ending in a bowel movement. His first week here he didn't seem to have trouble w/ BM's, but he still seemed gassy.
What else can I tell you? Any ideas?
Thanks,
Maria

hi Maria,
3 remedies come up from your info - Rheum, Cham and Borax.

Otherwise, a baby who cries all day and sleeps all night is Lyco!

I think you'll need to furthur differentiate with the type of stool, perspiration distributionor smell, any skin discolouration, and also any other modalities you can make out, that relieve or increase the pain.

If you have any trouble deciding , you may email me, as i may not get back on in a hurry.
All the best,
doctorleela

If the baby is cows milk intolerant then often Soy formula causes just as many problems
1) theres a high Aluminium level in Soy ..........constipation cause ?

2) Goats milk may be better tolerated or Oat milk or rice milk

My latest Grandchild was projectile vomiting on breast milk because his mother was drinking cows milk .......she has had to switch totally to Goats milk .......she tried Soy but that had same effect

Now the baby is weaning and had an anaphylaptic shock event on Passion fruit

Seems that the experts reckon many babies are now hyper allergic to things like Kiwi fruit and passion fruit

Something must be going very wrong with peoples immune systems
