Default Agreed - not agreed

In ear infection or painful lymph nodes in the head and neck, which is the result of ear problem, the closely matched remedies are Silicea, hepar sulp and merc etc. If no medicine strongly indicated start with puls!

Is this your clinical experience in these types of cases? - to start with Puls if there are no other remedies that are strongly indicated?

If no remedy is strongly indicated over another. And, you've got a child in obvious bad pain - what would you do?
Would clinical experience lead you to choose a remedy that you've seen work well in a very similar situation before?

Interesting to see this thread as I've been working on a cat (she's very uncomfortable) with swollen nodules at base/back of both ears for quite some time. In reading just yesterday, came across this in

Allen's Keynotes, Puls, General symptoms:
" One of the best remedies with which to begin the treatment of a chronic cases (Cal., Sulph.)."

She was started on Puls LM/Q 1 going up to LM/Q 3, though I hadn't seen the above at that time. It was not beneficial to her case.

Hi Lisa

The selection of homeopathic remedies does not depend on one being strongly indicated over another.
The selection of a homeopathic remedy rests on symptom similitude. This means, that if a remedy is similar enough to the disease present now expressed by its symptoms, then this remedy will cure if applied in a suitable form.
It can very well be in acute cases, that two or even three remedies are similar enough to cure, and do so as Boenninghausen reported in one of his late articles.
I remember once a situation, where in one family both children came down with a violent cold with exactly the same diseasepicture which equally indicated Cham or Nux-v. so I gave cham to the One and Nux-v to the other and both improved within 2 hours significantly.

Hans,
Very interesting regarding the two children who had the similar disease picture!!! Which article are you referring too? Is it located in Boenninghausen's Lesser Writings? (am searching for it now)

I'm fully aware, but thanks for the careful reminder that the selection of the homeopathic remedy rests on symptom similitude.
