You think? I thought because it back tracked so quickly that it may not be right, I'll try it again though, maybe this time it will hold. THX

Default Original post lost

Hello, I have been posting on this cat for a while, but since the board moved I haven't been able to find it. Briefly the cat has really bad skin problems. His ears also became very inflamed after some time and he was given graph 30ch and then 200ch which relieved his ear problem, cleared up his chin acne and helped some what with his skin (this was given after sulph LM1 didn't agree with him).

Anyways, he has now developed another problem on top on the skin condition. His nail beds are completely inflamed. They are red, swollen, with thick deposits of what looks like pus ozzing from underneath the skin and coating the nails. Although he doesn't appear to have any discomfort walking etc., when I clean up his feet he becomes very annoyed and will bite (I assume from discomfort or pain), he is normally a very sweet and affectionate cat. This is a new symptom that surfaced after his last dose of graph (200ch). He still has scabs all over his body that bleed when removed and don't appear to be itchy to him at all.

His appetite has dramatically increased from 6 months ago, and he is managing to get "round" on raw food. His ears have stayed trouble free.
I did give him a dose of sulp 30 when I first noticed the problem, but no change was noted.

I can not decide what the best course of action for this cat would be in terms of remedy selection. I have been looking at hep, sil or do I keep at it with graph (maybe LM)? Any advise is greatly appreciated.

Hi Kkrista,

Do you recall the name of the old thread? If so, ask Jonh, and maybe he can locate it for you. I hope you find it - if only to have a record to refer back too!!

When was his last dose of Graph?
How did skin condition improve/change since Graph?
Do the nail beds appear to be itchy? (I know you said the scabs on his body don't appear to be itchy)
Is there any smell with the discharge from the nail beds?
Did his appetite increase after Graph in particular? Or was it improved after another remedy before that?

Is there anything else you observe that might help?

I hope someone can help you with this cat. I find it really difficult to treat animals because it's so hard to be sure about how to translate what I'm observing into reliable rubrics -- and I can't speak to them to make sure.

Best wishes,
Lisa

Is this the thread? -

If so, we can merge this current thread onto the end of the original.

yes that is the thread thanks.

Lisa, The graph cleared his ears and chin acne. The initial dose helped his body scabs (I think), but the 2nd dose failed to do the same (scabing came back as normal after 1st dose, never cleared the head area). Its hard to say when I noticed the increase in appetite, it was certainly after graph, but not directly after (does that make sense?), mind you when I first got him back, he was so thin, dehydrated and feeling horrible and of course not eating well, possible from all the allopathic meds he had. The last dose of graph was probably about 6 weeks ago. The nail beds appear painful only when I clean them, not itchy, and there is no odor (I only noticed the problem when I was cutting his nails).

Right now I'm still dealing with a flu bug that has been sweeping through the shelter, my place and now my sister's place (she lives above me). Thankfully cham has been very helpful with the digestive upset and nausea! Thanks!

It's merged with the old thread now.
Hope this helps.

Is this cat now ill with an acute (the flu you mentioned)?
I hope you get him sorted soon. (I feel for you; Dempster was unwell [fever] after I last posted but he's much better after a dose of Sulph.)
Best wishes,
Lisa

passkey has a little shameless behaviour in the past
Default Kent

Kent , to whom I always yeild said that in a difficult case where many remedies have bewen used , administer Nat Mur High and wait , it will bring the case out of confusion to order and you can then after waiting a while retake what is now apparent

Thanks Passkey, I kind of tried to do that with his last dose of sulphur. I will look into it, I can't help but think I need to be weighing the nail bed infections heavily at this point. Does anyone have any experience in this? I have never seen anything like this before in cats (unless it was trauma induced, ie they got their nails stuck and pulled too hard).

I think the "flu bug" is finally on the way out, certainly this cat seems to be feeling OK otherwise.
