In England, we have two homeopathic degree courses, one offering a BSc (Hons) Health Sciences Homoeopathy and one offering a BSc (Hons) Homeopathic Medicine. These are offered by the University of Wesminster and the University of Central Lancashire respectively. The courses are 3 years full time and give the student a thorough grounding in anatomy, physiology, integrated physiology, pathology and differential diagnosis. Westminster provides training in Classical Homeopathy, but I am not sure about Central Lancashire. I think their course includes classical, but is a little more ecclectic.
There are also other private colleges around England that normally offer 4 year part time courses. Some provide courses in classical homeopathy and offer students a Licentiate qualification on graduation. Some courses however provide training in what is known as Practical Homeopathy with one college even offering a 2 year full time course that is accelerated. A lot of the colleges are starting to forge links with the universities to offer degrees too. The reason that there is a lot of disparity is that some people can only afford to study part time at weekends, so some of these courses will be good for them. However, the universities also offer their courses on a part time basis too and they are cheaper than the private colleges. There are some people that also do not want to train in classical homeopathy. They want to be shown practical methods so that they can practice in 'today's world'. I am sure however, that as time goes on, more of the universities in England will develop degree courses in homeopathy. This has happened with acupuncture now. At one time, it was mostly the private colleges that offered training in acupuncture, however now, the private colleges have all forged links with the universities and also about 4 more universities around the country have all written their own acupuncture courses. I think that the BHMS in India and Pakistan is a great idea and I really approve, but you do have to remember that not everyone wants such a medically based course, which entails having to study for four years at least and then do another year of residency on top of that. Also, homeopathy has been around for a long time in your country too. |

I would say that a PhD in whatever subject area is just as valid as anything else. It is really a PhD is a PhD is a PhD really. You still need to do your lit review, corrolate all your results and come up with new and group breaking research.
Original thought needs to shine through in all PhD's and this can be done in alternative therapies or homeopathy just as well in any other subject. Why do you ask? Are you thinking of doing one? |

Ph.D subject in homeopathy is status conscious degree. There is no facility allover the world to do Ph.D in homeopathy or in alternative medicine. Few fraud universities are offering this course. Our pakistani doctor are also much interested in doing so. They are getting degrees from srilanka, india, uk, usa and pakistan. Government doest not accept this degree. As college and universities are not recognised by UGC.
