Default Constitutional Treatment on which ground

I have seen doctors saying to their patients that your disease is a complex disease and I need to select a constitutional remedy for you.

My question to my honourable members is, what is the criteria to select a remedy on constitutional ground and for which diseases this method of prescription is recommended or applicable?

In general, a 'constitutional' remedy is a similimum that is selected on more than the first aid or current acute symtoms, i.e., a chronic case.

Can we select & find a remedy for both of these types cases? We can inherit some symptoms at birth & can also aquire some chronic(not acute) symptoms after birth. Both can be chronic cases/symptoms. Then, which are to be considered under chronic case/symptoms as you mentioned above?

You shouldn't mix the SXs of a first aid or true acute case with those of the chronic. First aid cases are pretty clear, but acutes less so. For instance, an allergic flare up is really a chronic, although the patient may consider it an acute; whereas a very virulent flu that has closed all the local schools should be treated as an acute. A cold that someone has and that is not 'going around' may be a mix.

So there is confusion in first deciding a case for constitution prescribing or simple prescribing?

SR, What will be the differance between a constitutional & simple treatment? Similimum is to be selected in both cases. Don't we mix acute, first aid & chronic symptoms for selecting a similimum based on simple/non-constitutional treatment?

shirley,

just a quick thanks for very concise, clarifying statements. i love it when something is easy to read ... and hard, but profitable, to think about.

Chronic treatment can be simple and acute treatment can be difficult, so I'm not sure what it is you want me to compare.

You says, we don't mix acute, first aid & chronic symptoms for selecting a similimum based on simple/non-constitutional treatment? Do you mean to say that any treatment which include/base chronic symptoms is a constitutional treatment & which don't include is a simple/non-constitutional treatment? Chronicity can be a aquired manifestation after birth OR a inherited manifestation by birth. Do we differanciate & consider these aquired or inherited manifestations seprately while considering a "constitutional treatment"?

IMO - inherited manifestation does not come under this category of constitution. It should be considered seperately.
