passkey has a little shameless behaviour in the past
Default you are more important than you realise

YOU ARE PART OF THE CURE

There is a distressing tendency these days to concentrate on the remedy and all its ramifications. From the “Mind “ to the “Extremities”.
There is the mad scramble for new remedies, for new provings . Like Lemmings we rush down the road towards fame and wealth. The trappings of which, surround the throne of Science and Orthodox Medicine.
The Doctor is NOT God and the homeopath should not fall into that trap. In my time in homeopathy I have known homeopaths who attempt to dictate to their patients , who make value judgements that they would like to impose on the lives of others.
In the “ I Ching “ there is a hexagram entitled ‘View’ It presents a tree on a mountainside . The tree does not attempt to change the view. But by being only itself the picture is changed.
Over the years I have come to regard every patient as a learning experience. I am compelled to look again at remedies I thought I knew and see them in a new light. What are the needs of this person and what lesson can I learn by trying to bring them to health My attitude has always been “ I am blank page, write on me “
Certainly I believe, with Kent, that the Physician merely uses remedies to remove those blockages, within the patient, that prevent the body CURING ITSELF . A process built painstakingly into the genetic structure by 40,000,000 yrs of Evolution. Part of that evolution is the creation of a nonmaterial internal communication system. CELLS COMMUNICATE, and any interference in that system of communication by pharmaceutical drugs is DESTRUCTIVE.
In its belief in energy medicine homeopathy is similar to Acupuncture, that also removes obstructions in the energy flows along various meridians in the body. The same process is at work with cures by the ‘Laying on of Hands ‘. All are adjustments to the non material energy level of the Vitality or Spirit.
Hahnemann clearly saw that all illness begins in the non material Vitality, the spirit . In the Organon para 148 he says “ the disease must never be seen as a noxious SUBSTANCE residing inside of man, but rather as something produced by an inimical power that upsets the spirit-like principle in its instinctive control of the entire organism and forces it to produce in the flow of life sufferings and disorders called disease (symptoms).
I have dealt with many cases that humbled my homeopathic pride. Cases where simply listening to the patient effected a cure. Cases where simply facilitating the development of a latent talent effected a cure.
Long ago a diplomat I treated told me my methods were similar to counseling. I had never thought of it in that fashion Part of my life has been spent trying to remove ‘kinks’ from my character. Looking back I realise that although I did it from selfish motives, the ‘kinks’ in my character hinder my ability to “See” the patient and select the correct remedy. The nit picking remedy Arsenicum for instance. One could see in its passion for detail, some of the character of Hahnemann
For me, as for Kent, the process of homeopathy is matching what you “See” in the patient , to a remedy . A computer program does not “See” a patient. Only a homeopath “Sees” a patient.
Knowledge of all kinds – psychology, philosophy, pathology, comparative religion, historical processes, and the arts all help towards the fully rounded , 3D , character which may be the aim of the individual homeopath.
At the moment homeopathy is an art – to pretend that it is a science is to debase it and restrict it by locking it in a cage. Someday, when Science matures it will be possible for us to have “scientific” homeopathy. But we have to wait for Science to grow up. Until then we must accept that we, each individual, are part of the cure and at least as important as the remedy , in the process of cure and its success or failure .

Yes, thank you Passkey. Concise and illuminating. This helps me, as a patient, to feel that I am on the right path and echoes much of what I am reading and learning about chi kung (which, strangely, I probably never would have considered choosing as a form of exercise had I not first discovered the benefits of homeopathy). I love the way this all knits together.
