I have a 21 year old brother who is convinced that someone is spying on him. He says that he hears voices describing what tv shows he is watching, describing what he likes to do, and telling him the friends he has. He broke one of his bedroom walls searching for a spy camera. He took a thin metal filing and tried to convince me that this was a spy camera. I didn't know how to react. He has called the police complaining that he is being spied upon. He has started painting another room in the house as an excuse to search for another spy camera. He asks me questions like if I have friends that work in security who would have installed spy cameras in the house to spy on him. I convinced my brother to sleep in my mother's room hoping a change of scenery would freshen his mind. He has slept in my mom's room for 3 days and still complains about hearing voices in the middle of the night. It is very unusual behaviour and it is taking its toll on my whole family. My brother has lost weight. He looks extremely stressed out and consumed by this situation. This situation is taking control of his entire life. He says he has heard the voices for one month. But his behaviour has gotten very unusual since last week; the day he broke his wall to find a spy camera. My brother is a bit of a loner. He has difficulty making friends. He is a very intelligent human being. He is very quiet and rarely shows any emotion. I have known my brother to be very level-headed and this behaviour is very unusual coming from him. He has never had any sort of mental problems before. I believe he is suffering from extreme shock from being rejected by a female friend whom he really liked. He also complains about the lack of freedom he has living at home because my mother is overprotective of him. My brother is the youngest sibling and my mom has been very protective of him ever since my father died 3 years ago. I care for my brother a lot and want him to get better. Right now, I can't afford to pay for him to see a homeopath. But I need something that can help him. I usually use an online remedy finder to help but the website is down. The help of any homeopaths is greatly appreciated. |

"Urgent: brother is hearing voices in his mind"
I am so sad to hear this about your brother. It would be best to get him to a regular MD asap. It sounds like he is coming down with schizophrenia. He needs some homeopathic remedies quickly before damage is done. I sent you a personal e-mail earlier. I recommend this be done in person too. You can browse the questionaire to see what kind of info will be needed. It is most important for the homeopath to know the symptoms before medication. |

My brother has not seen a regular MD as yet but I will make sure he goes since it could be schizophrenia.
I was able to use an online remedy finder and it recommended using Belladonna. So I purchased Belladonna 30C. Eventhough it is just a shot in the dark, will it help his condition a little bit? Thanks for the support. |

i don't know what things are like in your part of the world, but in england when schizophrenia is diagnosed during an acute episode the patient is often "sectioned" and force-fed neuroleptic drugs, even if these drugs are clearly harmful to the patient. sectioning takes away a person's rights to refuse treatment.
if this were my relative, i would try to avoid involving the medical profession for the above reason, recognising that there are limits, such as when the person has to be watched for 24 hours a day to prevent self-harm etc. other possible causes for apparently schizophrenic episodes include recreational drug abuse and multiple sclerosis. this patient needs expert homoeopathic treatment, and i would not advise anyone to take on such a case who is not knowledgeable [online remedy finder is nowhere near up to the job.] like ricky, i would advise local help rather than online where possible. |

Can there be temporary episodes of schizophrenia and then all of a sudden they stop??
My brother says he is no longer hearing voices. But I am not 100% convinced. I think he may be just saying this because he may be in denial. But I will be able to tell if he continues his unusual behaviour. I am very skeptical of taking him to an MD where he is prescribed drugs that will give him long-standing side effects. I have personally experienced long term side effects from antibiotics and I don't wish that on my brother. If some of you say this case should not be handled online, can someone recommend a directory for finding a classical homeopaths in Ontario, Canada?? |

"Can there be temporary episodes of schizophrenia and then all of a sudden they stop??"
Yes, there can be. As Anna said if it is cause by taking street drugs or a temporary expose to some fumes, for example, the hallucinations and/or voices may go away when the exposure is withdrawn. The Bell 30C you gave may have been very specific and well chosen inadvertently, and if caught in an early stage, it may have done the job. but watch and see. [ 14. Karen Jonas, HD, (R.Hom), B.Math
Jonas Health Centre Ph: 905.820.1675 Hwy 403 / Erin Mills Pkwy naturaldoctor@estayhealthy.com You may want to give Karen a call. She's very accessible if you live in Mississauga. You can contact me by private message if you like, should you require another referral. I strongly urge you to find a good prescriber to treat your brother in person, and not on line. He deserves real care and you will have a much easier time of helping him get well if you have a homeopath you can easily reach when you need her. Good luck, and may your brother get well soon. [ 14. My brother says that he feels fine now. He says he is no longer hearing any voices.
He has been taking Bell 30C for the past three days. I will continue to monitor his situation for unusual behaviour. I am still going to encourage him to seek professional help from a homeopath. I thank you all for your help. |

Why is he taking the Bell 30c every day? Are the "voices" returning?
If they aren't, he ought not to be repeating the remedy. You really ought to be putting the case management in the hands of a qualified practitioner. Believe me, it will be money well spent.
