I use a protein-focused diet to get my patients off their meds for high cholesterol. It can be quite a dramatic change for some people, but results are extremely effective--far better than what can be achieved using the drugs like lipitor.

I can give you more information about it if you like. But it is basically the "protein power life-plan diet" by the Drs. Eades.

I do the same. It's sometimes very difficult with vegetarians, particularly if their diets are grain based. It's extremely important to decrease the grains, starchy vegetables and fruits and add high quality fats and proteins.

According to Dr Ramakrishnan's seminar I attended last weekend 6 months of taking 6 drops of Hawthorn tincture will bring the cholesterol down!!!!

BTW what potency homeopathic hawthorn (Crateagus) did you take and for how long?

Six months! Maybe cretageus should be considered as the "right remedy" and given in a higher potency than this.

The dietary change brings the cholesterol down much more quickly than 6 months, I'm afraid. Usually 30 to 90 days.

Oh.

Good thing to know about cretageus, then, as it could be a good alternative to some of those "scouring" drugs they give to people in those circumstances.

thank u all, I only have one potatoe, rice or pasta
in a week, rest is all lightly steamed vegges and protein of either nuts, seeds, tofu, chicken, salmon, beans.at lunch, breakfast is hot oatmean, banana or cold shredded wheat and bananna. supper is home grown salad with one of the proteins above, I use olive, or canola oil only, almond or avacodo on one slice of homemade bread with salad.my deserts are assorted fruits.3-4 a day.
do not eat dairy, only rice, soy milk. I weight 125 and would not like to lose any weight.Im, very active. Can we hope that the 3 tablets of 30c of Crataegus that I take daily which brought my pressure down to l40 will also reduce the cholestral in due time, Im on it since june 2003.
any more suggestions??

I'm unaware of any research which suggests that, at 86 years of age and an HDL of 69 (and total chol / HDL ratio of 3.3), you need to do anything else about your cholesterol--other than your sensible diet and exercise program.

Have you been told something different?!
