Huh? Snoopy, hope your tongue was firmly planted in your cheek when making that last post. You can not claim the title of obnoxious! It's been taken. A long time ago.

Austin/Lisa, thanks for the knee slapper at a time I really needed one. Fifteen days of sleeping next to the cage of a squashed face wild squirrel, said squirrel in resp distress the entire time, quieted by the touch of human (though inhumane)touch , eating only tiny amounts of pureed baby food every half hour, left me a tad nervy ......so the laugh was much appreciated.

I would be interested to follow this case. Please report the kitties progress to sulph and any other remedies offered.
I am surprised at the Sulph suggestion. I can see pyrog, merc, calend, and gunpowder but why did she choose sulph?

thanjks

Ricky's absolutely right, this is not a constitutional case, no repertorizing necessary,
it's a first aid case, we need to be thinking of wound remedies--calen., hyp., ledum, gunpowder as Ricky said; I don't know the reason for sulph. except that it has green discharges. In Murphy's repertory: Emergency, wounds, gaping-calen., hyp.
But, we'll see.

Exactly, and that's why Sheilagh prescribed after asking a few questions about Dempster. I've got Pyrogenium & Gunpowder on order, in case I need them. I don't have those two remedies.

As I said above, she wanted to start with Pyrog. When I said I didn't have it - she groaned and asked "How is he doing? Has he become anxious and restless?" I answered, "No, he's been very mellow, lying around - in fact, he's lying on the kitchen floor right now (it's cooling to him) when normally he'd be playing about this time (with the kids)" So, she said "Okay, we'll use Sulphur".

He was itching, hot, green discharges, lazing around (more than normal) - and I'm sure there may have been other reasons she went with Sulphur, when she realised I didn't have her first choice.

Austin, if I have understood good, Hepar Sulphur is another remedy to study. Hepar covers well the festering of any class, with pus and blood and evil smell. It is indicated well also when the wounds not cicatrizan, it improves eating and especially, this is what makes think to me about this remedy, Hepar Sulphur fight, there has this character, sweet and fight that Dempster shows, and if there is similarity with his character in totality, he will recover very rapidly. Luck.

Hi Opium,
Thanks very much. We did discuss Hep Sulph but when I couldn't decide between the handful of remedies I was considering, I spoke with my homeopath. Anyhow, he's doing well on Sulph so far. The smell from the wound is gone now and it is healing already. It's not gaping open anymore. We'll see how things over the next few days.

I for one apologize for my thoughtless, obnoxious remarks.

good to hear the cat is getting better.

not to be personal at all, and just for future reference, i would think it could be risky to use calendula in a situation where a lot of pus is discharging actively - as it could seal in the pus by closing the wound, and therefore lead to septicemia.
if anyone has contrary experience, do post.
i know calendula tincture was used as a wound dressing to great effect in ww1, but presumably before poisoning had set in?

This is why I asked Snoopy why she was suggesting Calendula.

I relayed which remedies (merc, hep sulph, led, which I have, & pyrog, gunpowder which I don't have) I was considering to Sheilagh, along with the suggestion of Calendula. She said a resounding "NO!" to the Calendula citing that there was too much pus being formed and it could turn septic.

Pyrogenium was her first choice, but the Sulph seems to be working very well.

The pus has cleared now.
A scab has formed.
He is eating well - and hopefully he has stopped losing weight.

So far, so good.
