please can anyone help. i'm worried about my 3 year-old daughter who has sores all around her mouth, the roof of the mouth and on her tongue. her tongue is white in the middle. tomorrow it will be a week since it began and she hasn't really eaten since then as it hurts her too much to put anything in her mouth. only the odd yoghurt and cup of soy milk and breast milk. she doesn't want water only breastmilk.
she's quite exhausted, probably hungry and quite weak. we were told at school that there were other cases of this "stomatitis", initially i had thought it was thrush...
i have tried propolis on her tongue but basically she is rejecting everything.
i think she has had a fever on and off. and dehydrating a little.
she is very clingy naturally.
any ideas

There are 67 different remedies in my rep. You would be better off taking her to a homeopath to take a full case. In the meantime make up a solution of a teaspoon of cider vinegar in a cup of water and swab her mouth with it at regular intervals as ths may help by changing the usual alkali of the mouth to acid and clear up the sores.

Ricky's suggestions are good--

If you have experience with remedies you may also read about borax and see if that fits. If so, you can use it in low potency, eg., 6C, and repeat as symptoms indicate. A homeopathy home care book can help you with appropriate dosing, and with checking out other options/remedies for this acute problem.

Some notes on borax:

Aphthae: The entire oral mucosa can be affected with sensitive, bleeding, hot aphthous ulcers. It is one of the main remedies for canker sores of children. Aphthae on the tongue. Glossitis. Stomatitis.

Mentally, there can be a fear of downward motion or starting from slight noises.

The best one remedy for the said case is nit - acid 30 three to four doses per day.

Don't use vinegar. Not recommended for a child. This will irritate the symptoms in child.

I agree with David, try Borax as he said.

Borax 4x is a very low potency, so if you can get something higher (eg., 6, 12 or 30C) it may help with some of her other complaints. My opinion is that you shouldn't change remedies as long as you're seeing benefit from the borax.

The cider vinegar diluted as I suggested is perfectly safe as I have used it on a 4 week old that we didn't wish to give remedies to.

Borax is number 1 remedy for thrush. I would recommend 6c

the paediatrician has said that if not eating by tomorrow she should go to the hospital. she did have a banana milkshake today and siy milk has been a constant.

7C is fine--you can continue to use it as long as it's helping the sores in her mouth. At least with the milk shake, she's getting some caloric intake. The doctor is probably wanting to have her get some intravenous nutrition.
