HI Ozzie,
IF I've understood right, I think it would very important to have the 2 torn ends in apposition together to promote healing. Healing of a ligament in normal circumstances always takes a lot of time. So it would be important to have surgical intervention to bring the two torn edges together. Then the homeopathic remedy will be essential to help the healing. Also consider remedies like Bellis Per, Hypericum, Rhododendron, Strontium Carb and Symphytum, depending on the presenting symptoms of pain and modalities at different points. Even then 3 months would be a conservative time period to expect healing. Hope this helps!

Thanks Dr Leela,
This is for me.. Had a fall from about a metre, 7 weeks ago & heard the "snap", & it "snapped" again as my boot was taken off in Casualty, but it was diagnosed as a "just a sprain & at your age..."(I'm still in my roaring 40's) See the surgeon on Wed. & have considered Bellis. I prove Hypericum if I even get the tincture on me, so that will be out of the question. Was accidently given Anac 1M by my daughter who misread it as Arnica, but no ill effect from it. |

Dear Ozzie,
Sorry to hear about the fall. The ankle being a weight bearing joint always takes time to heal. IF there is a definite evidence of the ligament being torn, I think you should seriouly consider some surgical intervention. YOu mention a boot. Is it something like a cast? In any case, the ankle needs to be supported well everytime you walk either with a crepe bandage or whatever advise the orthopaedic suggests. YEs taking the pain modalities and possibly any concomittant causative factor, consider different remedies. Evaluate frequently. My experience suggests that adequate remedy repetition is required as well. All the best!

Thanks for your reply, Dr Leela...
The boot I mentioned was the work boot I was wearing when I was doing the gardening. (My trusty blundstones!) I passed out after the initial fall from the pain, but in the last few weeks, have been using meditation techniques to minimise the pain. Also MLD for removing oedema. I have access to a camwalker (removable cast), but will wait for advice from the orthopaedic surgeon. The GP seems to think that the injury will need surgical intervention, as the ligament is completely torn. |

Hi Ozzie,
I thought of one more remedy that I forgot to add above - Rhus Tox. This especially as you said that the Anacardium that you took by mistake helped a bit(?). Rhus Tox and Anacardium are from the same botanical family. All the best. SP; JayJ you've got me curious!

Thanks for suggestions,
Saw the Orthopaedic surgeon today & have an orthotic foot brace to wear on right foot, to prevent further damage when walking. Appears I also damaged left foot on the way down as the ligaments are quite lax as well. I'm booked for an MRI next week as there also appears to be bone fragments from fibular and talus on Xray as well as the ligament tears which showed up on the ultrasound. Gives me another week to work miracles with homeopathic and energy treatments ![]() |
