Dorothy,
I hear Calc-f., the cell salt, three or 4 times a day, and I also heard it may take 6 months, but, I imaging indications that the remedy is correct should be detected sooner. Snoopy |

Dear Dorothy,
Here's what I've got for Sulphur and Phosphorus: Sulphur--cataract with sinking feeling at the pit of stomach; heat rising to the face. Phos.--black floating spots before eyes. Colors before vision. Misty haze before the eyes. (This is from a book called SELECT YOUR REMEDY.) Calc-f. is a remedy known for indurations (hardening) which seems to relate to the kind of cataract you have. I don't know what to make of Clark's recipe. It seems arbitrary. Do you have black spots before your eyes? Do you see colors? If so, maybe phos. is for you. I think these remedies have to make some sense regarding your case. Snoopy |

Madam,
What the poster "Ricky" meant was simply: It does not work like that. Read a couple of generalized "recommendations" from a book, and give this a try, or that, or several at one time, or a routine course for everyone: She is completely right. Homoeopathy does not work like that. What she listed was: according to her reference work, all homoeopathic remedies that are known to have been beneficial in a case or cases described with the rather general label "Cataract". That is all. The task of the treating homoeopath would then be to select the one that looks like it is the most appropriate for your case, person, health history and current situation, at this point of time. Then prescribe it in an appropriate potency/dosing scheme; have pre-appointed consultations for feed-back, to monitor developments, adjust his strategy if necessary, etc. As Dr Hahnemann, the founder, wrote ( § 6o Organon, or in some editions footnote 1, end of it ), it is "the most difficult Art in the world". Wrote he, who developed it, and practiced it over decades. What makes it so beautiful, nevertheless, is the tremendous potential it has, if............ - if wisdom prevails, I mean. If you try a short cut, you are gambling with your health. That's it. To say that again, and again, and again...: Homoeopathy is a tailor-made treatment. So any routine is out, by definition. Not becuse I or anyone else say so, but because it is fundamentally opposed to its core principles. As the poster with the soda drink can already tentatively remarked: If you are going to take a remedy for a while, just because it might perhaps... - then you are likely to get pained by it. Homoeopathy , by definition, works by supplying an "artificail disease" via the signals that the remedy give to the mind-body system. If the dose is high enough, and/or repeated a number of times, and does not happen to match your individual disease state at that time in quality and quantity, then it is going to aggravate your condition. Because of its inherent nature, and that of homoeopathy itself. How much and how soon and lastingly you would feel these unwanted consequences, entirely depends on specific factors like what remedy, potencies, repeticions, your state of health before, sensitivity, amount of vital energy, etc. It can, in principle, range from "nothing bad at all" - if carefully applied and watched, to mmh, "a case that afterwards a medic has to look into on court order". Homoeopathy is, that is true, a completely safe and mild and harmless form of medicine - if and as long you and the professional use that wisely. And otherwise not. A system of medicine that is so powerful that it can cure most severe and death-threatening diseases can not be expected to always be fool-proof-ishly harmless. Sure, if you take a remedy, any one, for quite a while, then it will cause an artificial disease to you - unless antidoted by some factor. That is a natural law at work then. The power to do harm is the other side of the coin, opposed to the power to heal. ( The or one difference to the conventional allopathic medicine is that their drugs, --->> even if applied according to all rules of their art, do not lastingly heal - as opposed to life-saving in emergencies, by intervening in the body-machinary, or palliating or suppressing the disease - and often have nasty "side-effects", and sometimes long-lasting ones; whereas homoeopathic remedies, if applied by an "ideal all-wise" healer, does not have any of these, but if applied by others, can have some unwanted effects, minor and short term usually, and if applied by a fool, or just by someone who hapens not to know what they are doing, can have VERY NASTY effects.) / So therefore nothing to worry, if it is used ____wisely____: - remedy well selected, individually - stopped when showing unwanted effects ( after having done a good job, or shown not to be the right one ) - having all of your health history in the back of the professional mind, and being able by knowledge and experience to judge whatever happens in the light of that context, your medical life history. That's how I define the "wise use". // And if it is ____not used wisely____, then - if you unintentionally antidote it: it wont have any effect. - if by chance, gambling-like, it happened to be the right one: it will have some positive effect; but if used too long, it can turn unpleasant; and if then stopped, unpleasantness is going to recede, sooner or later. - if it is, by chance, a partial fit, then it helps a bit for a while, and then not any more, and if taken in large doses nevertheless, it is going to become nasty. - if it was a superficial, pseudo-fit, then you seem to get better for a while, and then the original ailment returns; then it won't help any more; and if continued anyway in strong doses, it is going to aggravate. - if it was off the mark anyway, then you don't notice any change, if the dose was not-too-strong; if strong and/or repeated, you get an artificial disease. - unfortunately, what also can happen, is that it seems a good fit, and all seems to go into the right direction, ailment or symptoms disappear for some time, or even forever ( as opposed to "just for a short time, as above ) - and then later only it becomes apparent that it did not catch the disease process at the right level, that something was overlooked, and a worse type of ailment is appearing, which was not "caused" by the only-seemingly-right-remedy ( as proven on the long run ), but not prevented, rather hidden ( because it seemed to improve, on the surface, so causing illusions of succes ) and sometimes even accelerated. That is the side of homoeopathic treatment that demands a good deal of caution. In any chronic case - and in people of age you have to expect that there are at least aspects of chronic ailment ( though that is frequent in all other age roups as well; just if you live longer, and had allopathic treatment for a while, there is more of a chance you assembled such things over time, above or below the surface ) - you MUST take the whole medical life history into account. The details of that are certainly not easy, long term analysis, what to observe and how to assess it etc. Just the point I wanted to make clear - here as well as before and in principle - is that you must be very careful, sober, skilled, reliable, professional etc when approaching these kinds of complaints with homoeopathy. These are the perils of applying homoeo-remedies in an unwise manner. As I wrote above, it is like gambling, with possibly some elements of russian roulette. /// An example from the remedies that you listed in your initial post: Calcium fluoratum. If you take that in strong doses and it is not the right one, or too long, frequent repetitions etc., then indeed you are going to get proving symptoms. To my knowledge there were two provings of it, smaller ones, in America in the 19th century ( see Allen's "Encyclopedia" ); and one in 1953 at a German homoeo-hospital, involving 39 MDs, using the relatively low potency D ( = decimal ) 12. What they found, i.e. what symptoms that remedy was documented to have the ability to cause in humans, included: - irritability, depression, anxiety - pain in left tonsilles - varicose veins - herpes type excema - itching in old sores ... With other words, you are going to experience some of these, if you take strong or repeted doses of that remedy just for a try. As well as possibly other things, if you heartily continue for a longer time... 'See the logic ? That's part of my ongoing battle here. If you love your health, then find a professional who is up to the task, on- or offline, for a reliable professional relationship. If you are gambling, then you are asking for the possible outcome. That's it. There is of course a background to this discussion and post. Meaning that I repeatedly observed things here and the actors not aware of what unhelpful, unprofessional and sometimes outright dangerous things they were doing. Of which I want to spare you and me of more details. But becoming enraged by this "fooling around with human health, and the name of this wonderful art that homoeopathy- in principle - is", both some time ago, and today elsewhere, was the reason I occasionally post pieces of this length, mainly tp prevent myself from smashing things in a fit or such things. 'Hope it helped the questioner nevertheless. Regards, Panthera [ 13. May 2003, 18:29: Message edited by: panthera-non-onca ] |

thank you very much Panthera for taking the time to give all the details of homeopathy. I've been using same since l976 and always very careful and also have the antidote ready just in case. I've have checked all Clark suggests, I fit all in a few ways.I am now on the first week of Cal.Fl, 30c.which I will not take higher. However, I do think I will take the Sulp.200 as I've had it before and Im surely a person who likes warm dry weather which makes me feel like Im 68 not 86. wherein damp, cold weather makes me feel like 96.Unfortunetly the nearest homeopathic doctor is 3 hr. car ride from my home.Hence, Ive been learning and working it with assorted books. and chats with others that I know who use homeopathy and todate have had no mishaps when I dont go over 200c.as I said, I already have Aco,Cam.Mere. Pul ready incase of a proving of Sul.Many thanks again, will keep you all posted as the good results occur down the line when I have my next eye test.

Hi Dorothy,
As panthera wrote above all I did was go to the latest rep in my computer which is the Complete Millenium edition and prnt out the rubric Cataracts + all the possible remedies. What I was trying to say was that there are many remedies for this condition and the best results are obtained by finding the remedies that fits the totality of your symptoms including the mental and emotional ones (Mind). Re the Clarkes recipe - I can't really comment as I don't approve of multiple remedy dosing. The 6x's however are in Tissue salt potencies and shouldn't really do much harm.......!!!
