here in Toronto we have an outbreak of SARS....
Anybody hear of what the epidemic remedy may be? i have not been able to get any specific symptoms as i have not had any SARS patients, but many patients are interested in having a remedy on hand in case they get it.

I'd like to know too! They say it's like a flu with muscle aches with the addition of a dry cough and difficulty breathing. Of course, we, in homeopathy need to know things like the mental/emotional concomitants, the thirst and the onset.

Does anyone know of any links with more detailed information on SARS. I'm looking for more specific symptoms, lab analysis and post mortum results. Not sure if this information is available anywhere? They has now revealed that they believe SARS to be a corona virus. I also read that many patients develope Leukopenia.

Hi! the symptoms i have heard are not really specific enough for homeopathic prescribing unfortunately.....vague things like chest pain, cough, fever and now even skin rash and diarrhea. Not very helpful to us as homeopaths! If I hear of any specifics though i will post them as soon as i find out, i am keeping an eye on the reports.

As of today, the suspected virus is a coronavirus. Coronavirus can survive up to 3 hours on an object so it my not be transmitted only by respiratory droplet as previously thought, so wash your hands well if you are in an affected region!

Hi all,

The epidemic is getting very critical here in Hong Kong. People are very panicky. We know that homeopathy has a lot to offer, but we homeopaths, not even more popular TCM practitioners here have an opportunity to treat these infected people. Any identified cases are now isolated in hospital. Highly suspected ones are closely monitored.

So symptoms sensible to us homeopaths is very limited. A homeopath in Hong Kong has suggested possible remedies from indirectly solicited sx. They are: Bryonia, Phos, Iod, Ant-tart and Sulphur, in order of possibility. But no more specific symptoms I can get so I cannot comment on it.

The whole energetic environment is very shaky here these days: cloudy and oppressive climate, panicky people, suicide of an important pop-star last night, slow economy for months and years, and not to mention the unjustice war, etc.

There is an unprecedented need to cultivate the inner peace and love.

Hi Fiona, I have checked out the links, unfortunately not much detail is given. I've started to follow the SARS virus because the more they find out about it the more it reminds me of a fatal feline disease called Feline Infectious Peritonitus (also cause by a mysterious corona virus that researchers have not been able to pinpoint).

So sorry to hear about the climate in Hong Kong...my wishes are with you for an improvement in the situation there...hopefully homeopathy or TCM can be used to strengthen the vital force before infection begins if people are being isolated... we can only hope i guess...

Dr Maas, what symptoms/generals do you prescribe Phos for prophylactically and symptomatically?

Do you know what the specific symptoms of SARS are? If so could you post them as we really would like to have this information rather than the vague and general symptoms provided by the WHO.

Hi - I am new on the list and a student of homeopathy. I personally don't have the remedy for SCARS but asked our local homeopathy of 15 years, as well as a TCM doctor and who happens to be from China originally. He seemed to know what the symptoms are. He said a few of them, dry cough, sudden onset, fever, ( I don't actually remember all of them that he listed just these ones). Without hesitation and with real conviction he said, "ACONITE". He said he has ordered 10 & 50M and 100M or 1 CM. in the event that SCARS makes its appearence here

Aconite makes sense to me with the sudden onset, especially if you can give it right away; later stages might well be phos.
