Hi David
My rep only lists abies-c. Can you tell me the source of the other mentioned remedies?

Hi Melin
I was wondering if it is somehow linked to liver problems since artichoke is well known for liver cleansing. Just a thought.

cyna = artichoke

Long used as a medicine in Italy...and the source of a "bitter" tonic preparation used as a digesttif, called "Cynar"

Sankaran has pointed out, correctly I think, that a person in need of a specific remedy will often seek out or crave that remedy in its crude form.

Interesting to see this concept reflected in the repertory!

Hi Jayj..

I tried sending you a private message, since this is somewhat off-topic, but it seems your email is blocked for some reason. Anyway I was interested in finding our more about your comment regarding liver problems and the cleansing aspects of artichokes. What do you know about this? Also, if possible, could you direct me to some online source for further information? I would like to know more.

You may email me privately if you'd like.

Thanks so much,
Melin

Hi Melin

Don't know why you couldn't send me private message or email. I just checked my profile and it's set correctly.

Anyhoo, I just did a google on artichoke liver and lots of stuff came up. Mostly stuff for sale :razz: but you should be able to glean some info from it all. Unfortunately I don't have much info on it.....it is just something I have always known. Sorry I can't give you any more than that. Maybe if I have time later I will take a look through some of my books and see if anything is there.

Hi Melin: the following is all I could find--

From Reckewig's Antihomotoxica:

The mother tincture is prepared from the fresh plant, Cynara scolymus. N.O. Compositae. The main indications are: Tonic. Resolvent. Diuretic. Contains an enzyme, which converts insulin into levulose. Deep-acting, effective liver remedy, also in cirrhosis and jaundice, edema, sciatica, and to stimulate the detoxifying function of the liver. Although the consumption of artichokes is without question beneficial to the liver function, and lower potencies undoubtedly work effectively the author has found the medium and higher potencies to do very good work.
