Drugs used in psychiatry (ex. Clozapine, Risperdal, etc.) work well in regulating dopamine and seritonin resulting in immediate relief of mental symptoms. Would someone have suggestions or experience to offer or a list of remedies that may help with "delusions", "hallucinations", "psychosis" while using these drugs or for those needing help with gradual decrease in dosage?

Dear Viceroy,

I'm assuming you know something about homeopathy.
A psychotic case is no different than any other.
A complete case has to be taken. The remedy could be Anacardium or Lachesis or Kali Brom. or almost anything, there's no way of knowing without
taking a full case. I think this is why no one has answered you.

I agree with Snoopy.

I is very important for the "whole case" to be taken with any mental illness. There are a hundred kinds of Schitzophrenia and patients have very different symptoms, so the remedy must be choosen according to what is showing. Also it is most important to know what the symptoms were before taking the medication. The medication or prescription drug maybe hiding the real symptoms at the core of the illness. So a care giver is very important to help with the history.

Dear Snoopy and Carole,

Thank you, I appreciate your replies. I do have knowledge concerning Homeopathy. Yes, the question I asked was simplistic requiring clarification. Yes, strict individualization is required to ensure the success of classical homeopathy for each patient.

Here are more details concerning the case. This is an woman in her late sixties. She has a delicate disposition similar to the clingy and dependent Pul. When others meet her they automatically want to help her, protect her and feel very loved by her presence as she is more gentle than a lamb. She writes poetry and historical stories. Yet previous to being placed in a skilled nursing facility for recovery from a fall (hip fracture, likely from lack of calcium), she was agoraphobic unable to meet with many strangers. Allowing only family members and long time friends into her life, was a little old lady living alone in her house. She would not bear strangers, would rarely leave the house and only with "safe" people. She believes that unknown strangers (she calls these people "them") come into her house move things around, and attach chips inside her body and cause her to have pain through their remote control units. She has had unusual thefts take place with mysterious consequences. She refused to take any medications or vitamins for over 30 years because she believed they were adulterated rendering the substances ineffective. After taking some antipsychotic medications she has become peaceful and tranquil rarely speaking of these people that harmed her so much previously. She still believes "them" are still there but is not overwhelmed continuously by the influence of these "delusions". She believes that everyone suffers from these types of problems concerning the unknown but are not consciously aware of them. She will say "just because the doctors say they are "delusions" doesn't mean they are not true".
Daily exercises have been part of her routine for the past 60 years. She is thin and petite with long hair. Her hair has been a problem (dirty like Psorinum can). She smiles when she looks in the mirror.

The main physical complaint, once in a while she suffers from incontinence when she cannot make it to the bathroom quickly enough.

She loves to have Starbucks coffee, likes ice cream, needs to have a salad everyday, and enjoys Ensure drink supplements.

She has not taken any remedies in the past but is open to trying. A complete transformation has taken place due to the antipsychotic drugs, but is there hope that a homeopathic remedy might help wean her from these drugs?

Aside from the current issue how do each of you feel about the term "polychrest"? (I realize the term would not be used for this question) Is there such a group of remedies. Nux v, Sul, Silica?

Dear Viceroy,

This case sounds like Hyos. or Stram. to me. If you want me to do a repertorization, let me know. I'd be interested to know what Carole thinks if she's still here.

This remedy should work despite the allopathic medicines. If it's the right remedy, it will do all the things you're asking of it.

Yes, there are polychrest remedies. They are the remedies of many uses: Sepia, Puls, Nux v., Calc, Lyc., Phos., Sulphur and so on. 70% of your cases or more are going to need a polychrest.

Dear Snoopy,

Thx again. I was under the impression that Stram was a remedy for violent persons typically found in high security prisons or mental institutions. Although fears of light (perhaps lightening), hip disease were featured in the picture. Terror and victimhood are important signs.

Could a thin fragile person that would be more on the sexually delicate side indeed be a Hyos?

One other thought- She had a devastating case of measles when she was in second grade, could this have brought a Stram case on?

Dear Viceroy,

I don't know that it is Stram. I would need to repertorize the case, which is very time-consuming and wouldn't do it unless I knew you were really interested and planned to return to the thread regularly to answer questions; for instance, what brings on the involuntary urination; for instance, laughing? Sneezing, coughing...?

You say this is a very sweet person; if she weren't on medication, would there be an angry side? Is there a polar opposite side that you know of?

Is there a childishness at all? Naivete or Silliness?

How does she feel about animals? The dark?
Can she be left alone? Can you ask her what would happen if she left the house? What is she afraid would happen?

You say she believes strangers are in the house
and steal from her? But she's not afraid of them because she's on medication. How would she feel not on medication?

Did she say that these strangers have implanted microchips in her brain so they can control her?
So is it fair to say that she believes she's under the power of others? What do the strangers want her to do? Does she hear them talking to her, telling her to do things (when she's not medicated)?

Has she had a drug or alcohol problem? Marijuana, LSD, etc.?

Ask her if she can tell you any dreams she's had.

In answer to your question, if she got better I would think the whole family would change for the better; imagine how this must negatively affect their lives?

Dear Snoopy,
Yes, of course I would like your help!!

She says the incontinence is brought on by "them" and doesn't seem to follow any pattern of events. It sounds as if she believes they are "dumping" their pain onto her.

She is tempermentally a sweet person, if you were to say one of her family members said something controversial, she would say "oh, someone is confused on the issue" and not blame them. She has a particular aversion to gossip, refuses to say anything bad about anyone. The only time she becomes angry is if "them" are causing her pain and then she attempts to yell at them to tell them to go away, but she is not angry or violent with any living person. She doesn't hold onto the anger or repress it.

There is a naviete in the sense that she is a little girl in ways, dependent on others to take care of her and pamper her, buy her nice gifts, etc. Always lets others take care of important business tasks for her.

She loves animals. She immediately becomes conscious of birds, squirrels, antelope, elk out in nature, in town loves to see dogs, cats, horses, even enjoys cattle, and especially buffalo.

She fears she would panic and result in frightened panic attacks, run away like a scared kitty cat if she would go out.
She cannot stand to have people walk towards her, particularly a group at at time as in shops, hospitals. She would spend most of her time alone, going downtown once every six months or so. She did have a habit of going to bed at 7pm and waking up at 2am, and begin her day then, so she would be up and starting her day during the dark hours. Now that she is on medication she goes to sleep at 9pm and wakes up a 6am.

The strange thing someone did go into her house steal about $2000 worth of bonds and cashed them in her name. It really happened but the amount was so small to the government wouldn't do anything or find the person that had done it even though it is a federal offense. She has had unusual happenings causing me to believe that she is not just using her imagination.

She has only been on the medication for about two months, before that, she suffered terribly from these feelings. Before two months ago she had not taken aspirin, vitamins, any drug for over 20 years. Now she appears peaceful most of the time. She hasn't said if she is afraid of these people, it seems she is more angry that they are invading her. I will ask her. Yes, she feels she is under the power of others. They do not tell her to do anything, they control her and cause her pain. Yes, she feels the microchips have been placed there to be used to implement the "remote control" device.

She has never tried LSD, nor marijuana (is common for people with the disease to use marijuana, the disease is there first though). She has not had an alcoholic drink in 20 years, she would have one strawberry daquiri (usually not finish it) at christmas at her sister's house each year previously.

Will ask her about the dreams, and about how she feels about "them" invading her.

I admire you very much.

Stramonium, as all the solanáceas, it is known more by his toxic picture that by his essence, which has done that you upset is prescribed like simillimum, and it has been relegated to the acute pictures. It is necessary to do an effort and leave of side the impassioned picture of the poisoning to come to another Stramonium, more pleasant, more devalued one, a Stramonium that needs the support the others.
If you do a comparative study of the symptoms of Stramonium's affection, he will think that, together with Veratrum Album, it is the remedy that more symptoms he shares with Pulsatilla. There is a very important need in Stramonium to feel leaned by the others, of feeling the affection and the love of other one.
Was saying Hahnemann that if we were giving Stramonium to all the patients of the psychiatric one, many of them would go out of there treated. He did not want to say that Stramonium is the remedy of the madness, but many patients in the psychiatric ones, are patient Stramonium. Stramonium has the symptoms that you report of this person. I would investigate on the fears that it had in the childhood, because in Stramonium I believe that they cannot lack: dogs, animals, darkness, etc.
One of the themes that has very marked Stramonium, it is the search of imaginary objects, looks in the air for an object that does not exist, or walks towards some non-existent person. It has rapid movements, runs rapidly. Tararea or humming of unconscious way. The organ of the sight is one of most affected in the remedy. In the medical matter the term appears for Stramonium "unworthy", I think that this is the key of the medicine. And it is a symptom that I believe that in the repertory, has not been translated correctly.
Stramonium's plant grows in the garbage, in the margins of the ways, and the person Stramonium has this stamp of dirt, of marginalization. They look what onlooker in Hahnemann, when one speaks about the remedy, it is said as an item of mistakes that Stramonium when he wants to say bedroom, says stable. It is not a coincidence, Stramonium does not sit down deserving of anything better than a stable. It has abandon, abandonment. It sits down in a desert, uninhabited place. It has a typical symptom that is the entreaty. Stramonium he kneels down and with the arms extended towards ahead, seems to look for something. It prays, also of knees and up to when it sleeps it does it of knees. All that shapes a coherent image of a remedy that sits down since we have said, unworthy. It has strange thoughts and religious crisis or topic with the religion from very children.
They are annotations that probably help to understand this medicine, not a prescription. I think that this patient one must visit a good homeopath unicista, and if it is you his homeopath, you must study several remedies, not alone Stramonium, though as Snoopy, I also had the impression of this remedy.
A lot of luck.

Dear Viceroy,

This is a tough one, because Stram. people are afraid of the night and afraid of the dark, but here we have this woman who, when she's not medicated, goes to bed at 7 and is up all night!

You say she's always with family members because she can't bare to be alone? That would go for Stram. but didn't you say she actually prefers to be alone and is worse in company? Which kind of company is she worse for, all company?

She loves animals, but, as Opium said, ask her how she felt towards animals in childhood. In fact, ask about her childhood.

When did Them first appear? Under what circumstances; for instance, after a surgery, an illness, a fever, a disappointment, etc.?

How's her digestion/elimination?

She says that Them are causing her incontinence, so, I take it everything gets blamed on Them!

You said that Them are causing her pain. What pain and where?

Anything remarkable about her appearance? Dryness? Blemmishes, mode of dress, etc.?

How does she keep her room?

Would it be fair to use the rubric: Delusions, hears voices? If so, what do they say?

Would it be fair to use the rubric: Mind, talks
with absent persons? Ya know what, Viceroy?
Stramonium(2) is the only remedy in that rubric!

Well, on that cheerful note....

Bye for now,
Snoopy
