Thanks for your suggestion. I agree singing or even reading from a book dissolves the stammer - but obviously it's not a simple as that. He doesn't stammer in response to a question, more so when he is telling me something he has experienced or is feeling. He is an emotional and sensitive little lad so this isn't suprising. It is usually worse in the morning when he has just woken up. Some days it is hardly noticeable, other days quite debilitating for him - with no rhyme or reason.
His Dad had a stammer and speaks rapidly and I speak very fast naturally so it is not a very conducive environment vocally to someone who is prone (although his twin bruv has no signs whatsoever!).
I have started speaking more slowly and clearly to him on the advice of people I have spoken to which I hope may help.
One homeopath who has first hand experience of stammer has kindly e-mailed me privately with a suggested remedy which I will try. I will let you know the results.
