In my experience injectables sometimes work better than other "traditional" forms of medication, and I have two explanations for it:
1) There is a definitive "placebo" or mind effect using injectables, "they are more expensive, so they must work better" (patient's viewpoint) 2) If injected in a neural, acupuncture or trigger point you have the combined effects of the two therapies. I mostly try to avoid injections, because: 1) They are more expensive than convensional dosage forms, 2) They (most of the time) cannot be administered to the patient by him/herself, 3) In every case of injection given some micro trauma is created. Although this can be used for the patient's advantage (point 2 above), it is often unneccesary and painful 4) The possible positive effects of injectables compared to the reasons 1 - 3 given above does not add up.

In good olden days, injections were given only when the patient was unable to take medicine through the mouth but now they have become a fashion and homoeopaths seem to immitate allopaths, as admitted by Nasim Ahmed Homoeopath and Homeoman.

I also think that we should not place hurdle against the use of single remedy injection in homeopathy. Some time it creates positive psychological effect on the patient. Our people are very fond of injection. they generaly demand injection from allopathic doctor. if homeopaths also start using injection then they can encounter allopaths

The question should not be of 'encountering' allopaths or of attracting or pleasing patients but of their safety. I think, unnecessary adminstration of injections borders on licensed quackery. A good doctor should not do just what a patient demands of him.

Two of the great benefits of homeopathy:
1) It is non-invasive, which is in direct contrast to much of allopathic practice. 2) The medicines are incredibly inexpensive, again in contrast to conventional medicine. I see no purpose whatsoever in injecting the remedies. It only makes them unnecessarily expensive and invasive. [ 11. September 2003, 20:27: Message edited by: Tomi C. ] |
