This was posted on Danielles thread - I think Rachel meant to start her own thread so I am posting it here.

Hello, I'm new here. My name is Rachel. I've been reading the previous posts and it sounds like someone here might be able to help me if I'm in the right place. I'm a little concerned about a pain I'm having. Last night I woke up to a sharp pain in my lower right abdomen that lasted for about 10-15 seconds. This evening during dinner, I experienced the same sharp pain. That was at about 6pm. When the sharp pain was gone, it turned into a dull pain that lasted until about 8pm. While it was a dull pain, whenever I would bend down to pick something up, it would hurt worse. Could this be appendicitis? If so, what can I do homeopathically? If not, what could it be?

Rachel - homeopathy can help but more info is needed. What does the pain feel like? What does it make you do? ie. double over, grab abdomen? What makes it better or worse? How do you feel mentally with this pain? Where is the pain located exactly? Did anything precipitate it?

Barb, I'm sorry about posting in the wrong spot. I wasn't quite sure what I was doing. This pain is a very sharp pain. When it happens, it makes me press down on the area. It feels like it's right above my hipbone. The area is about the size of three of my fingertips. It makes me feel like pressing on it will help, but it doesn't. When it woke me up last night, it was almost unbearable. I had a hard time telling my husband what was going on. It made me sit up in bed. Actually, more like if I was trying to do a crunch or almost a sit-up. I don't know for sure what may have precipitated it. I did have three glasses of red wine with and after dinner, but the pain didn't occur until about 2 to 3 hours later. So I was afraid that was the cause, but I haven't had anything but water and juice today and the pain happened again, this time during dinner.

The test for appendicitis is to press down on the appendix and then let up quickly. It will hurt when you let up.

I did that test a few times to make sure. It didn't hurt. What could that pain be?

The are several possibilites. Maybe an ovary or maybe a soft tissue injury or a spinal problem that is effecting the nerves in that area or maybe a hip joint problem. If you were my client, I would ask you to see our clinic doctor for a diagnosis.

In the meantime, for homeopathy to help, we would need a lot more information. You can look at the questionaire that Snoopy developed to see the kinds of information that would be needed.

While I'm sure homeopathy can help, regardless of what the diagnosis is, without knowing what is going on, it's hard to give a prognosis or decide on the best overall approach.

Rachel,

In the absence of nausea, bending over double, vomiting, fever, etc., it could be gas. Maybe it was the wine or something you ate after all. I can only suggest that a sharp pain that comes on suddenly and leaves suddenly is Belladonna, which you're certainly welcome to try. Do you have any questions?

Thank you, Shirley and Snoopy. I spoke with a woman I know here who knows some homeopathy. I'm not quite sure how experienced she is, but she mentioned that it could be due to constipation or more seriously, perhaps an ovarian cyst. What kind of information do you need to know what it is?

I suppose I should also let you know that the reason she suspects a cyst is because I have been on the Depo-Provera shot for birth control for a couple of years and haven't had a period since February of 1999.
