It was suggested to me that the original post might be a little confusing and that I may want to post fresh.
History: 6 year old Lynx point siamese, neutered male. Originally taken into our program 4 years ago and adopted out as a healthy cat. The cat was returned just after 2 years with severe gingivitus and mysterious body sores. The owners had put him on allpoathic treatment consisting of steriods and antibiotics. We took the cat off the allopathic drugs (which were not working anyways), took him in for a dentistry. Soon after the gingivitus returned and the sores (which never went away) were still present. We started to treat homeopathically. Merc 30ch took care of the gingivitus, but produced 2 symetrically round and raised ulcers located just to the left on the back of the tongue and directly above on the roof of the mouth. Subsequent remedies used were merc 200, phos (6-200), hepar sulph (30-200), and sil(12c). Just recently we had the ulcers which were full of debris and pus, cleaned and took tissue for biopsy that eventually came back positive for this condition. The disease itself is somewhat of an allergic reaction to certain protiens which causes the body to launch an immune response which in fact does damage to itself. Most notably, ulcers of the body and oral cavities occur. His Present Symptoms: *Lesions active on left shoulder and behind the left ear. They originally look like "burns" (glossy, red and smooth), will also develope a thin (almost clear)yellow layer on top. Lesions vary in size from 1-3mm, circular (almost symetrical)Body lessions do not appear to be painful or itchy, cat doesn't pay any attention to them *Lesions or ulcers in the mouth have been cleaned but the areas around are red and looking inflammed (possibility they may be filling up again). The tongue has already been severly damaged by the 1st very deep ulcer that ate through tissue and muscle almost to the point of leaving a complete through and through hole. * cat is gagging, mostly in the evening while he is at rest or grooming himself (not when eating, but sometimes after eating) * cat has a "sulphur" look about him; pink rimmed eyes, sometimes discharging clear fluid and a dirty sort of looking palour * nose still looks swollen from surgery (3 weeks ago) although no discharge is noted. * mouth appears healthy pink, no gingivitus; other than spots where ulcers were. Past dentistry took all back teeth, only canines and incisors remain * does not eat great quantities at a time, rather likes to "pick", frequent, small meals * water intake, urine and BM's normal *energy good, very affectionate, completely "unafraid" of everything; can be a little bit of a "bully" and "attention seeker" * body is long and lean, good tone * enjoys grooming himeself or others (people included); may have a taste for salt or perhaps its a form of "tongue massage" for him I have been looking at sulphur for him, but someone suggested I might want to stay with merc? Does anyone see anything else or have any questions? [ 18. November 2002, 23:07: Message edited by: kkrista ] |

I worked on this case last night and feel really good about sulphur for this guy. (After the "caust" thing on "Inflammed Gums" I sure could use a little support and guidence in this prescription.) Does sulphur seem "out to lunch" or too obvious?
pink, runny eyes; swollen nose; eruption and black around his lips; gagging or coughing like something stuck in the throat; (cancerous) ulcers; affliction of tongue; body sores (yellow); small & frequent appetite; among other direct indications. |

Its been a couple of days on the ars, I noticed a lot of gagging, coughing and choking last night. Over the weekend I'll check to see if only active symptom at night. Sounds like he's trying to cough up phlem -but I'm not sure he has any to cough up (no chest conjestion). Will also try to have the mouth checked this weekend to see what the tongue ulcer is doing.

Hi Anna, sorry I forgot to reply to your post yesterday. The gagging is no worse on the Ars. and actually he hasn't had any episodes since. He did have a few hairball coughs yesterday. I'm not sure there have been any changes on the ars. His tongue is still red looking. His eyes maybe a little more inflammed (red looking) than usual. His appetite is good etc. The sores on the side of his body appear unchanged as well. Not sure if I should continue? He has 3 doses left.

Finished the Ars LM1, during the last few days a cluster of about 4 smaller sores have developed on his right side. Also noticed in last 2 days, increased licking of blankets, hair, clothing etc. Checked mouth, still appears red but can not see any growths etc. Eyes are still really pink-rimmed with slight clear to brownish discharge. Appetite, drinking, BMs and urine appear normal. Energetic and playful. Thanks
