One among the different specific medicines prescribed for diabetes is Syzygium Jambolanum. It is prescribed in its mother tincture form.

Several allopaths and ayurvedic physicians also prescribe Syzygium seeds (powder, tablets, decoction ...) for diabetes.

I shall be grateful if someone can enlighten me on how Syzygium Q works --- along homeopathic lines or along allopathic lines. If it works along homeo lines, what happens to our "similia similibus" principle?

Another question in this connexion is: Has any one of you tried Syzygium in potencies? What has been your observation? (I know of at least one renowned homeo physician in my city who prescribes Syzygium only in 200 C potency.)

I once again request our homeo folks to spare a few minutes to reply to (or discuss) my query "homeopathic or allopathic?".

Dr Akram, are you not disappointed?

During proving of various medicines in crude form. Many positive and negative symptoms were appeared. For example during the proving of damiana it was observed that it creates good impact on sexual organs and is responsible for enhancing sexual power. Hence we use damiana in mother tincture form (which is almost a crude form)in order to enhance sexual needs. This is the direct action of medicine. Damiana is best in impotency as it enhanced sexual power during proving. For enhancing sexual power we will use it in mother tincture form. Damiana is homeopathic remedy so we can use damiana under the control of homeopathic philosophy.

Same rule is applicable to syzg. During its proving it creatred good effect in the assimilation of sugar in the body (a positive symptom) beside creating so many negative symptoms. When we want to take advantage of positive symptom then we have to use it in almost in crude form as in that form in which remedy was proved. You have observed that power of syzg jam is readily given to sugar patient. Those for negative symptoms we will use in potency form. that would be called secondary action of the remedy.

Dr Shahzad,

Can you make your opinion a little more clear.

Is the use of syzygium Q, as you say, "to take advantage of positive symptom" homeopathic or allopathic? If homeopathic, what happens to our principle of "similia similibus". Since syzygium in its crude form brings down sugar, in its homeo form it should be raising the sugar level. Or am I wrong?

Can you also explain a little more in detail what you mean by "Those for negative symptoms we will use in potency form. that would be called secondary action of the remedy."
Does syzygium jamb, in potenztised form, bring down the sugar level or raise it?

I shall be grateful if you and also our father homoeopathic friends, especially those who prescribe syzygium to diabetic patients, could enlighten me on this.

YES.
I agree in absolute with you Dr. Jumma.
If a remedy is given in crude form as a contrary to the disease, as is the case of syzygium Q for diabetes and Damiana to enhanced sexual power, then it isn't homeopathy. Instead it may be classified as allopathy. That’s the reason why conventional medicine uses it to treat diabetes.
To be considered homeopathy the "similia similibus" principle must be respected in absolute.
To cure diabetes, I think we need to find a remedy that in the provings can cause symptoms similars to diabetes. Don’t you think so?

I know many homeopathic remedies can act differently in crude forms and even cure diseases too, but if the remedy can't cause symptoms similars to the disease, then the principle here is not the homeopathic one, instead it is allopathy practiced with the use of homeopathic remedies.
That’s the reason we must be careful about the potencies we use. Depending on the disease of course, if the potency is too low then we may be doing allopathy instead of homeopathy in special if we are using the remedies under that direct principle of "contraries" instead of the "similars".

Best regards
Dinis

I am again visiting this board after few days. I have to read all previous mails. I find this post more attractive. I think Jumma (English name Friday) is a CREATIVE MIND person.

It is very difficult to teach some one on internet but I will try to elaborate my point of view in this manner.

Syzygium Jambolanum contain volatile oil and tannin in the form of Ellagic acid and Gallic acid.

Information of two good (++) Pharmaceutical Test Specification (PTS) on healthy human beings is available. This PTS shows that it has been tested on healthy human beings for Diabetes mellitus on a purely empirical basis and found effective.

The criteria as to which cases it applies to in particular are unfortunately not yet known. Syzygium ought always to be attempted prior to applying insulin or sulfonamide, as a fairly effective regulatory influence can be expected in many cases.

Syzygium should be used in Q (Mother Tincture) or 2x or 3x in order to gain its DIRECT effect depends varies from kind of patients. In direct action it controls and maintains blood sugar at its normal level.

During proving Negative symptoms were also observed that is profuse sweating, thirst, fatigue and tremulousness. In order to overcome these symptoms we will prescribe Syzgium Jambolanum in potency form. But why we should give Syzgium to our patient when so many other effective remedies can easily handle these Negative symptoms and when PTS is also available for those remedies. Thus Syzygium is only used in mother tincture form. When you have an Aeroplane to travel from Mumbai to Agra then why are you insisting for CAR for traveling? When other PTS remedies are available to handle negative symptoms so easily then there is no need of Syzygium for covering Negative symptoms. Both aeroplane and car can take you from Mumbai to Agra. One (aeroplane) in more faster way then the other (car). What will be your choice? Aero plane (other PTS remedies) or car (Syzygium).

Syzygium Jambolanum decreases blood sugar by stimulating pancreatic cells and also stimulates responsiveness to insulin. It is effective against diabetes insipidus too. It also improves and facilitates insulin-insulin binding.

Syzygium Jambolanum helps in consumption of long acting carbohydrates like bread. As you know these are organic in nature. The major role in this regard of Gallic Acid and Ellagic Acid.

Syzygium Jambolanum potentiates effect of insulin by decreaseing hepatic glucose production and decreases intestinal glucose absorption.

Syzygium Jambolanum gives relaxation to smooth muscles of GI tract. This is another important factor of Syzygium Jambolanum.

It does not take part directly but act as catalyst. HCl has major role in breaking of carbohydrates long complex chains. Syzygium Jambolanum also helps in breaking carbohydrates and in this way provides easiness for breaking down of carbohydrates.

I hope it will help you in understanding its role as allopathic and homeopathic medicine.
