Hello,

I have a bad cold and it seems to be moving in the direction of losing my voice
I am stuffy in the head with a tickly feeling in my throat and a dry cough, though in the AM i am able to produce mucous, even then it feels dry. Better for hot liquids, worse for cold or room temp liquids.

Am very sensitive to loud noises, which cause me to get angry.

Better in the AM and worse in the evening from about 6:00 pm and later. Go to bed stuffy and blocked up with nose feeling runny on the side i am laying on, unable to produce mucous when blowing (in PM) am able to blow nose in the AM and feel better for it

Ears clogged feeling , sort of like cotton or crinkly paper in in ear canal.

Feels like dry cotton in larynx and lots of postnasal drip which feels yucky and infected.

I am worse for talking (and willhave to do alot of that today at work) . Usually i comletely lose my voice.

Also clogged feeling around my eyes with slight headache around my eyes..better for pressure around the eye socket.

Also my nose gets more clogged when i drink anything (esp cold) but even warm. Worse sitting or lying back and better walking or sitting upright or standing

Thats all i can think of for now, in the past i have not been able to correctly choose remedy and have progressed to loss of voice...

Thank you

Sounds like this is a chronic problem so the odds of finding an acute remedy by taking a partial case just around the acute symptoms that have flared up that will help is unlikely. Does not menayou won't get some releif but sound slike you need to have someone take you entire case to find out over time what other factors besides during the acute flare up contribute ot this chronic problem.

I think trying to treat it acutely could cause problems if you take remedies over and over without looking at the whole picture.

Thank you John for responding so quickly.

I would not want to take my own case, would rather be seen in person. How could i be objective about myself? I have had a bad experience in the past with this and my situation got worse, it was on this bb over 2 years ago.I kept getting caught up in my emotional reaction to my situation ~and~ i had acupuncture by someone who was into treating only symptoms (yikes, but i screwed up royally)
I have found out of a good homeopath who travels to my area occasionally and i hope to see her the next time, unfortanately it will not be until Nov.

Dear Kali,

The worse for cold and the irritability makes me suspect Nux Vomica right off the top of my head.

I'll give your case a closer look and get back to you. Is there an etiology here--like the weather, or over-study or anything else you can think of?

Kali,

Nux v. seems a best bet to me right now. If you know of an etiology, or if you can come up with more modalities, let me know.

Lots of symptoms here that belong to Nux Moschata- especially the cotton sensations.

Yes, I did see Nux m. pop up in many places as I was repertorizing. In the end I relied on the sensitivity to noise, the angry response, and the < cold drinks, > hot drinks for my recommendation. But, Nux m. is one of the main remedies for a feeling of dryness; and there's a lot of dryness here, so we should keep this remedy in mind.

Thank you everyone,

I was leaning to Nux V , i think all i have on hand is the 200c though. I'll look into Byronia, but i am clearly better when in motion. Today while i worked i noticed that i was better, even my nose was draining while standing and moving. Does anything rule out Rhus T?
When i sat or ate /drank anything i was completely clogged. I even craved a cold soda in the mid of the day and was fine for it.

i noticed ...worse for air blowing in the room or on my face (air cond or fan)

Can't think of anything else.

Dear Kali,

Yes, Rhus tox does look like a good idea.

Here are the top 5 remedies I came up with:

Lyc., Sulphur, Rhus t., Nux v., and Ars.
