Hello,
I have a yellow labrador dog that is 6 months old. Temperament is usually jumpy , very strong, large well built, likes to bite stubborn, very playful. He was fine Saturday...husband went out Sunday afternoon and he had runny stools in his pen. He seemed normal playful however, was eating a little grass. Didn't eat much. The next morning I went out to check on him no stools that I could tell but small piles of vomit with a lot of mucus. Low energy, not jumping at all, gropy and tail tucked, vomited one more time. I gave him arsenicum 12x. I couldn't tell that this did anything except he didn't vomit anymore. I then treated him with china 6x gave two doses. He perked up some and drank some water...tried to feed him some chicken and rice... ate a little.. .got up this morning had 2 loose greenish colored stools very loose and vomited once...husband took him to the vet...he said he has parvo and is staying overnight with iv and antibiotics to prevent secondary infection. We cannot afford to leave him any longer than just tonight...Can anyone give me some remedies to try to help him get over this quickly? No blood in stool has not had a stool in two days. getting very dehydrated and continues to vomit. thank you, charla |

Consider Veratrum also.
Ars 6x is not strong enough for this sort of acute. You should use at least 30c, but I would give a single dose of 200c. I have treated my own dog for parvo, using Ars 200c one dose, which cured. What is the behaviour of the dog like - how has it changed ? - this will help to direct you to the correct remedy. A remedy to always keep in mind when a condition gets very serious is Carbo veg. I have pulled several animals back from the point of death with this remedy. Once again, at the very least you need to use 30c.

Phosphorus is the third medicine to considering, especially if there is desire of cold water that he vomits so soon it comes to the stomach. This it is Phosphorus's symptom typical well and also of the canine parvovirosis in initial conditions(states). Phosphorus's depositions are abundant and watery, go out strongly.
Arsenicum's vomits can be of all the types, from water up to snot, bile or blood. Arsenicum's pains are intense. Veratrum since well they have advised him it is important to having in bill. It has an important characteristic, the collapse. Bluish skin, purple, cold and wrinkled. It is more indicated in final conditions(states) of the disease. Luck. |

In reference works, for Vomiting as soon as water becomes warm in the stomach, only Chloroforum, Kali bich and Pyrogenium are listed. This is strange, because I also know this keynote for phosphorous. It does not come up in any search I do throughout any of the proving information or materia medicas. Where does this symptom come from I wonder? It is marked very strongly in Hering's Guiding Symptoms.

Hello David,
Hering's Guiding Symptoms are principally a collection of CURED symptoms. Some of the listed symptoms are those that were originally produced in provings then were subsequently found to be clinically curative. In other instances there are symptoms that were not produced in the original provings but were repeatedly found to lie within the curative sphere of the remedy in different patients. Hering believed that these cured symptoms with further investigation and confirmation were beneficial to our MM knowledge base. As Hering said himself, obviously a proven and clinically verified symptom is the best guide as a characteristic indication. In the Preface to his Guiding Symptoms, you will see a list of symbols, that when read in context, give a value to the particular therapeutic indication. Hering: "To facilitate the study of the relative value of symptoms, four marks of distinction have been adopted, |, ||, ¤, ¤¤, which correspond to the four degrees in Boenninghausen's Repertory. | is the lowest, and designates an occasionally confirmed symptom. It is omitted in most cases, and is sometimes used to mark a difference of value in the same line. || Symptoms more frequently confirmed. ¤ Symptoms verified by cures. ¤¤ Symptoms repeatedly verified. "A pointed finger" indicates an approved characteristic, but is seldom used, by reason of our not wishing to appear authoritative. It is to be hoped that the combined experience of many practitioners, solicited from all sides, will enable us in a future edition to designate many more symptoms with this mark. ð The Greek letter "theta" stands between the cured symptom and the pathological condition, or the physiological general state, f. i., pregnancy or climacteric years. This by no means excludes the characteristic nature of the symptom in other forms of disease. { Such observations from the Old School or the News as are worthy of our consideration. t. Toxicological. r. Right. l. Left. < Increase, or aggravation; worse. > Decrease, or amelioration; better. p The Greek "pi" stands before symptoms observed only on the sick." In the MM section of Phosphorus, this particular cured symptom is preceded by two ¤¤ which according to Hering signifies that it has been repeatedly verified as a cured symptom. - ¤¤ Thirst : with desire for very cold drinks; for refreshing drinks, amel thereby until they become warm, when they are vomited; excessive; unquenchable. Kent wrote: "The pains in the stomach are ameliorated by ice-cold things for a moment; spasmodic contractions of the stomach; haemorrhage from the stomach; vomiting of great quantities of clotted blood; long-standing dyspepsia; much flatulence; regurgitation of food; distended stomach and abdomen; ulceration of the stomach." In Chronic Diseases we read: Symptom no. 745: With the most dreadful tortures, he attempted to vomit but could not, only the drinking of cold water alleviated his pains. Symptom no. 809: Severe burning in the stomach, with violent thirst, anguish, convulsions of the face, violent shuddering, cold limbs, clear, watery eyes, pale lips, weak pulse, decrease of strength and - death. Poor guy! Clark, Borland, HC Allen are some other authors that have subsequently afforded the symptom a "keynote" quality but it does pay to put it in context. Chris. |

Very interesting Shirley.
Malarial Fevers - Therapeutics "The involuntary stools generally point to Ars., but Arn, and Phos have sometimes been indicated. The latter I have not often found indicated; occasionally the following symptoms have been present, indicating Phos. The dry, burning mouth and tongue, with constant thirst for large quantities of ice-cold water, which is vomited when becoming warm in the stomach, or gurgling from the stomach down through the abdomen, causing an involuntary stool from a relaxed ani; hot head, desire to be magnetized, with overpowering fears; thinks he will see something coming from the corner of the room; bleeding from the nose, and septic exudation about the teeth (sordes); the face is blue, bloated, and Hippocratic; the terrible dryness is not relieved from drinking, and he wants a stream of cold water poured down his throat, there are stupor and delirium, and he slides down toward the foot of the bed (like Phos ac and Rhus). He answers no questions or gives wrong answers to questions; great indifference." |
