Dear Simone,
There is a big fight in homeopathy playing itself out in Simillimum, unfortunately, over Sankaran and Scholten etc., and Wright and Osawa have resigned. The whole thing is very embarrassing. Snoopy |

I am aware of all the hoo-haa, but I also heard that Wright and Osawa had moved on ... I was wondering where.
If anyone knows, can they please advise.

I don't know where or if they have moved on to some place else. I don't find this situation embarrassing at all. It's called democracy. It's often uncomfortable.
Democratic thought enables freedom of speech. These editors have tried to accomplish this without pandering to outright bullying and intimidation. Who has a problem with that? You Snoopy? Embarrassing? There is a real issue in our profession concerned with maintaining the fundamental principles of homoeopathy as well as being open to new innovations. Do you believe these issues should be quashed Snoopy because people get heated in the debate? Hahnemann, if you have ever read his life story, was OPEN to the new ideas of his pupils, he tested them, found them conducive to his principles or he rejected them. The editors of 'Simillimum' have attempted to meet these requirements within a realistic framework and have been heavily criticized in the process, personally and professionally, for maintaining editorial standards. If we, as practising homoeopaths, earning our livelihood from the practise of homoeopathy don't understand the issues being debated within our own community, what hope does our profession have to succeed in the future? Personally, I hope someone of merit can fill the vacancies left with equal integrity. |

It is not only happening in Simillimum. Quite a few of the homoeopathic magazines have had similar debates in their "Letters" pages.
There is a constant debate as to what should be included under the definition of "homoeopathy". It has been the case since the time of Hahnemann, as Chris so rightly pointed out. I don't particularly want to start a discussion about these issues, here. What I was hoping to gain was information as to which magazine Barbara and Peter will be editing in the future. I would be grateful if anyone who knows this could contact me, either here or privately. Peace. [ 25. August 2002, 19:01: Message edited by: Simone ]

Dr B.
Chris has stated what the issue is and/or was, quite succinctly in her post.

Simone,
Chris's post appears to you succinctly clear because you are aware of all the details. Read from the stand of someone who has not read the controversy going on in that journal, and you will find the post a bit non-specific. I picked from Snoopy's post that there was some contro related to Sankran and Scholten. I wanted to know what were the specific issues raised regarding these two that led to the resignation of the editors? Was the controversy similar to the one we saw on Links many months back? Thanks ahead for your time.
