Dear Doctor Leela,

I interpreted that it was recommended Phys be used in tincture, topically. Clark's says:
DOSE.
Tinctura physostigmatis, 2-10 m.
Extractum physostigmatis, 1/30-1/3 gr.
Physostigminae salicylas (Eserine), 1/100-1/25 gr.
Physostigminae sulphas (Eserine), 1/100-1/25 gr.
Physostigma and its salts should be prescribed with caution. The neutral sulphate of eserine is instilled into the eye in strength ranging from one-half to four grains to the ounce of distilled water.

I have very little information re Phys and frankly, it was the first time I saw the remedy. Since you have experience using it in 30, do you think the 6X I have available for immediate dosing may be too low? I will order 30 if it is. I assume you mean you have used it orally? Has it shown success with glaucoma cases, halting further damage or actually even curing? Do you recommend Phys over Phos for this type of glaucoma? The lowest C potency Phos on hand is 30 but have X in 6 and 12. Would you repeat a low potency (in a water dilution) or repeat LM, or one dose only?

I used Acon and Bell in LM 1 potency only because I thought it might be a bit safer.

Dr. B, or any one else with an opinion? Thank you Doctor Leela and thanks to anyone who may have a thought about this.

Dear GPM,
Glaucoma is not going to respond in a hurry, if it does at all! IT will in all probablity require months of repetition which I'm not so sure is such a good idea.

I've used Physostigma in a few cases of sudden onset of myopia or squint and have not had to repeat it too much in 30. I don't think 6X is a problem.

I think Phos in 6C is a good idea as you cna coninue to repeat it plussed if you detect imporvement.
AS Dr. B suggested the other remedies for thrombus are LAch and Bothrops, Crot H could also be included.
THe interesting thng about Phos is that it appears to also covers his temperament.

YOu're welcome!

Forgot to say GPM,
Phos is a good eye remedy as well. I would avoid the X's though.

What a dilema! For what it is worth, my cat with glaucoma was ONLY treated with literally hundreds of dollars of very expensive allopathic medications. The eye continued to grow and bulge and then became very dry, hard and painful. It was decided to remove the eye at the time of his neuter. Upon removal the eye underneath had completely desintegrated into mush. His other eye also had glaucoma, but it was never in need of treatment and never became progressively worse. He did retain some sight from his "good" eye.
Please keep us updated, I'm very much interested in the outcome.

Hi Krista,

I will let you know how things evolve. Right now it's not so good. I'd have that eye removed in a heartbeat if this little guy didn't already have a thrombosis, making me terrified of anesthetics. I hate eye problems! For some reason I get a lot of them and I don't like it at all. It is one of the few things that turns my stomach inside out. I can pick maggots out of orifices but don't give me eye problems, please! If only he could hear, there would be some communication possible. But to be both blind and deaf........argh. I tried Phos with no improvement and today started on Bothrops. Thank you, sincerely, for your interest. I will let you know how this all turns out. Poor, poor, dear sweet little souls that never harmed anything.........
