Unhappy

Hello everyone.

I'm a 31 year old male who has been suffering from gout in both feet for approx. 4 weeks now. It was mostly in the left foot at first, and now has switched mostly to the right foot. The foot is a little swollen but not red. I have ordered Ledum Palustre 30c based on the information in the research section. Does anyone have an opinion as to whether this is a good choice or not? Thank you in advance for any comments or advice.

Sincerely,
Tony

My mother had arthritis of her fingers and gout in one of her toes. Possibly the incorrect administration of remedies by her doctor at the time resulted in the surpression of the arthritis and the gout...and that year she got alzheimers. Just a warning not to mess with this..my personal opinion. I'm not a homeopath.

Guess what, Tony, you're in luck, cuz I happen to know that cherries cure gout--I'm not kidding! There's something in them that breaks up the uric acid crystals.

If you're looking for a homeopathic remedy, I'm afraid Ledum isn't indicated for gout; though it is a great first-aid remedy for insect stings, animal bites, puncture wounds, black eyes and other such things, but not gout.

If you want to take a stab at a gout remedy, you could try Colchicum 6C and you could try taking it 3 times a day for about a week to see if it helps you. If it does, keep taking it but only as needed, don't over-do it; in fact you should report back here so we can offer guidance. You might only need the cherries though, which you should eat daily til you get better.

Gout in lt toe and then shifted to right. It shows that the disease is progressing. I think it is not recommended to administer any remedy without taking the full case of the patient. I will recommend to take the symptoms again.

Gout has so many remedies.

'GOUT' is a diagnosis...a homeopathic remedy cannot be chosen based on a diagnosis, I agree a full case needs to be taken and Carolorr's caution should not be taken lightly.... Denise

Ledum is a great remedy for gout if it is relieved by bathing in icy cold water! Any remedy can cure any condition - this is a very basic homoeopathic principle - if the generals agree.

But, of course, a full case must be taken. Treating gout is bound to fail. Treating the person with gout is bound to succeed.

What exactly does the "generals" mean. I understand you're saying that ledum cures if icy cold water relieves...what is the general here and/or what is the principle behind a general. No...don't give me the principle until I know what the general refers to in this or any other instance.

A general is any symptom that relates to the person rather than the complaint. Any symptom where the person would say "I feel" instead of "My (body part)feels" is a general.

Examples of generals are:

I am hungry at 10 am
I get nervous when I hear a loud noise
I cannot sleep after 3am
I hate the hot weather
I love eating chocolate

Examples of particular(local) symptoms are:

My stomach hurts at 10am
Loud noises make my ear ache
I wake from the pain in my back at 3am
Hot weather makes my thumb itch
My migraines are aggravated by chocolate

Generals affect the person, local symptoms tend to affect just one or two parts. Once a local symptoms involves 3 or more parts of the person, you can probably upgrade it to the rank of a general (but still not on the level of an "I" symptom).

A remedy that suits the generals of a person's case will cure even the local symptoms for which it is NOT indicated.
