a person has developed anxiety disorder/agoraphobia AFTER the birth of her child where she almost died losing 70% of her blood volume.

so do we look to causation and say ailments after fear, ailments after childbirth, ailments after loss of fluids, etc.

Also is there a rep that specifically deals with causations?

no I am not taking this case - just curious - stretching my brain.

Barb, you ask some really great questions! Where are David and Divina when you need them?

Well, Barb, the repertory, and I use Murphy's because it's modern and everything is in alphabetical order, does include "ailments from", especially the Emergency Chapter (in Murphy's); for instance, I found Ailments from loss of fluids,
Death, apparent, hemorrhages, after; Fainting, bleeding, from, childbirth, after; Fainting, bleeding, from, uterine; Fright, acute; Mental symptoms from injuries; Pain, anxiety from; Shock, blood loss, from.

Then there's the Pregnancy chapter: Labor, bleeding, uterus during labor and after, profuse; Labor, fear of death, with.

Then you can cross any one of these things with the anxiety rubrics in the Mind chapter, or the Fear rubrics or the Agoraphobia rubric.

I think my first thought would be phos. because it's a big hemorrhage remedy, plus it's in the agoraphobia rubric, so I might find out if she's thirsty for ice cold drinks.

Aconite--now there's one you might think of right off the bat!

So, in answer to your question, I don't know.

Ricky's advice is excellent - I would also consider china as the remedy, but look at any remedy under Ailments from loss of fluids

So would you consider the causation to be the loss of fluids rather than the fear of almost dying? What questions would youpose to her to find out which causation to consider

I was bothered by the fact that China had no anxiety associated with it. So, I thought of China-ars.

Basically, I would say to this woman, "Tell me what happened!"

Familiarize yourself with the remedies that come up frequently for this, like China, Carbo Veg, Ip., Phos., Ferr., etc. and then when she tells her story, you may see keynotes of one of the remedies you looked over.

Barb, by the way, have you tried Kali Ars. yet?

I have a book in front of me called "Synopsis and Homeopathic aetiology" by Dr Eswara Das published by B Jain

Under China you will find Ailments through loss of vital fluids in haemorrhage.....

Ricky - is that the rubric you would use?
Is that a good book - would you recommend it?

Thank you

China does indeed have great anxiety and symptoms that could be put under the 'diagnosis' agoraphobia (reference Materia Medica Pura - Hahnemann), Repertorizing only brings you to the point of selecting potential remedies and reading MATERIA MEDICA...unless your knowledge and experience of MM is great... I agree Denise - repertory is a tool only. Many times I have found the MM to list a remedy for a particular symptom when it did not appear in the rep. This is why it is important not to get too caught up in the "adding up" of rubrics.

China is quite an anxious remedy - and is listed under fear of death. Remember, China has suicidal feelings held only in check by their fear of death (3 value along with Nux-v).
