I just recieved this e-mail and thought members of the BB might be interested. I'm not sure what time zone or even what the time is. If I hear more, I'll post it.

Dear OLNE Members

My annual vacation is rapidly approaching (can hardly wait) - but OLNE never closes!

I wanted to give you early notice of Julian Winston's next live chat on OLNE. This will be held August 4th (yes I know this is 3 weeks away but, as I said, holidays are looming!)

As this chat is all about 'getting back to basics' we thought we would open this event up to members and non-members alike and let all homoepaths and students participate. Therefore you will not need a password to enter Julian's room. Simply make a date in your diary and be there !

Please forward this email to all of your friends and colleagues who may be interested in participating - tell them its free, its interesting and its Julian !

Our recent chat with Lou Klein was held on a Monday - which seemed to be less popular than our traditional Sunday slot. The event after Julian's chat is on a Friday, August 9th, with Peirre Fontaine, to address the legislation currently affecting New York.

Once again this is an event open to members and non-members alike. It will be interesting to see how many of you like a Friday! Please make sure all of your American friends and colleagues are aware of this chat on the 9th as it directly affects them and they should make every effort to participate in this event which will be an unmoderated chat held in the Foyer of the OLNE chat rooms.

The series of articles by Lionel Milgrom, Department of Chemistry at Imperial College, London has now started. They are deep, thought provoking and guaranteed to get your brain cells exercised. Don't miss them over the next month!

Want to visit OLNE right now at http://www.olne.net ?

To send us an article or case or announcement or proving please click here (never hurts to ask!)

But Julian Winston is not a homeopathic practitioner. He can't share homeopathic experiences with us.

Julian is a homeopathic historian. He has more knowledge about the history of homeopathy and master homeopaths than any person living today. And he knows and understands the classical literature of homeopathy, including the Organon, extremely well. So I think we could learn a lot from him even though he is not a practicing homeopath.

The time has been posted, along with some interesting info on Julian. I think his bio will put to rest any doubts about what we can learn from Julian:

Julian Winston
Don't let the stars get in your eyes
04 August 2002 - 21:00 GMT

After moving to Philadelphia to teach at the university of the Arts, Julian Winston was introduced to homeopathy in 1971 by Raymond Seidel, MD, HMD, a pupil of Calvin Knerr.

Julian attended the NCH Summer program at Millersville in 1980, served as registrar of the program from 1981 through 1987, and served as dean of the program from 1988 until 1992.

He was elected to the board of directors of the National Center for Homeopathy in 1982. He has been the editor of the NCH Newsletter, "Homeopathy Today" since 1984. He was appointed NCH Director Emeritus in 1997. He is also a member of the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia Convention of the United States (HPCUS).

In 1999 he was the first recipient of the Martha Oelman Community Service Award from the National Center for Homeopathy.

He moved to Tawa, New Zealand in 1995. Just a short drive from Wellington, he resides with his homeopathic library of over 2,000 volumes, 4,000 vials of historical remedies, and a soon to be cataloged collection of homeopathic ephemera.

With his wife, Gwyneth Evans, he is a co-director of the Wellington College of Homoeopathy. He edits "Homoeopathy NewZ," a magazine of homeopathy in New Zealand.

In 1999 he authored and published The Faces of Homeopathy : An Illustrated History of the First 200 Years" the first comprehensive overview of homeopathy that included the decline and rise through the last half of the 20th century.

His latest book, "The Heritage of Homoeopathic Literature: An Abbreviated and Annotated Bibliography" has recently been published.

In the introduction to Julian's latest book, Richard Moskowitz says of him:

"As perceptive and opinionated as ever, Julian is one of a very small and select group whose favorites and pet peeves, passions and prejudices are always worth paying careful attention to, because he has thought them through and given cogent reasons for what he thinks. Though they may infuriate some, his broadsides .. are often witty, always thought-provoking, and do make some attempt to give credit where it is due. But don't expect a neutral, detached attitude. He's passionate about homeopathy, he has a point of view, and isn't afraid to play favorites and advocate for what he believes."

Currently Julian is currently working on assembling a data base of over 22,000 names of those who were in practice, as homeopaths, in the USA (or graduated from US schools) from 1840- 1963.

This chat is an open forum chat. Julian will take any questions and respond.

If you a student or new practitioner Julian wants to encourage you to ask whatever question you like. Don't hold back - just ask - doesn't matter how 'basic' you may think a question is.

Last time he was on I asked a couple of questions and found it quite thrilling to get answers.

I know the feeling! A while back I said something that he vehemently disagreed with. He e-mailed me, raking me over the coals for it. I was so excited to be raked over the coals by Julian Winston! To think that he thought it was important enough to e-mail me was really exciting. Now is that sick or what?

Oh yes, you are sick, Shirley! Mr. Winston emailed, asking for a short piece for Homeopathy Today about my use of homeopathy in wildlife rehab....thought I'd keel over. Still can't write one single word to send him..totally paralyzed by the idea!

I'm not sure I'd have the nerve to ask him anything on the chat, but I sure am curious about how they choose which remedies to add or delete from the pharmacopea.
