Hello Linda,
It would depend on what is the cause of your underactive thyroid. But most cases respond very well to homeopathy especially if on the right treatment. ie the consitutional similimum. I definitely encopurage you to give homeopathy a try. Warm regards, doctorleela

Many thanks for taking the trouble to reply. I did go to a homeopath before being diagnosed but found I had a lot more symptons coming up and was rapidly going downhill. Since drugs I have improved even after two weeks but will see my homeopath in a couple of weeks.
Thanks again, Linda |

Hi, in l987 I started thyralor, 3gr. now down to 3/4gr. every other day, with 1/2 gr. on other days. However, I am doing this by taking Thytrophin PMG, a Standard Process Inc. product on computer too. I get it from health store, or DC. I was told there is no homeopthic remedy for thryroid problems, so went this route, but it is a slow process to get off, so I advise those to not take RX at all and just try the ThyrophinPMG routine.and lots cheaper also $l0 for 90pills. Check it out and see what you think.

linda, in your position i would go back to the doctor who prescribed the thyroxin and ask her/him to take me off it asap.
after a time it is increasingly difficult to stop using thyroxin, because the body rebalances taking into account the supplementation. over time you need increasing doses of allopathic drugs - the same old story. if you find a good homoeopath they will be able to treat underactive thyroid, but this is less likely to be the case if there is thyroxin supplementation. |

Anna is correct that it becomes difficult after a time of being on thyroid medication to get off of it as the thyroid itself will cease production at all in the presence of the synthetic (or natural) source. Go back to your homeopath and give it time. It took a long time for your body to get to the point where the thyroid began producing the symptoms and your body gently has to be brought back to a state of healthy function. Depending on your history and how much suppressive action you have suffered over the years this can take time and you may even have some discomfort. But if your homeopath judges your reaction to be in the direction of cure try to have patience.
One thing is certain. Allopathic treatment may produce amelioration but it will not cure. To leave your body in this state of disease (and suppressed, remember) will take you further into ill health and engage other organs to produce symptoms. I don't usually feel like it is my place to tell someone directly to do something (I save all that for my children) but because you have just started this treatment and because you have a homeopath available I feel compelled.... Best of luck and kind regards, Kathy |

With a Hypothyroid husband who has been in the clutches of the Allopaths and on lousy Thyroxine for 12 years I would wholeheartedly agree ......find a truly Classically trained Homeopath and stick with them
There are far far too many Hypothyroids out there sick and tired of feeling sick and tired on useless lousy Thyroxine |

Yes I understand all your replies but I also did consult a homeopath on this site for quite a while and it did not help me as I have gone on to develop more symptons - but I think I have had thyroid problems for maybe up to 20 years and was very ill with chronic fatigue about 18 years ago and cannot afford to get ill like that again, which I was well on the way to becoming. Also I don't think I have suppressed any diseases in the past - I have not been vaccinated against any diseases and have only ever had limited antibiotics - perhaps once or twice every 10 years.
thanks again for all your replies |
