Hi,
I have been suffering from skin problems since Febuary of 2001, and just recently been told, after a series of creams, ointments, antibiotics given by several dermatologiests, that it is a case of eczema.
I found today that Homeopathy is the only way i can rid this problem, since Cortison etc treametns only give temporary relief?
My symptoms are as follows:
Face - under eyes, cheeks, over eyebrows, eyelids, jaw line...dry, itchy and scaly pathes. ithching causes dandruff like flakes, redness and unusual swelling. a few months back (due to the extreme toronto heat) there was yello ooze, extreme flaking and dryness. it was hard to move my face for talkign! and i couldn't go anywhere because it looked scary! and thre were small rash like bumps all over my face.
Also, the dryness has caused almost a wrinkly appearance. when i smile, talk, whatever, there are lines around my eyes which look terrible.! i am only 18! i dont' want wrinkles!
Currently, its a lot better but periodically, once every week or two weeks it comes back..with redness, swelling and itching in the mentioned areas. it doesn't look as bad but there is a hint of darkness over the area, whihc i was told is an effect of eczema
Arms, between fingers, shoulders- same..but very dark black patches.
How does the homeopathic treatment work? Does it make the conditions worse before it cures as I have been told? Like, does it spread completely and then gradually start showing positive signs?
i ask this because if i were to get involved in a treatment now and look sick it wouldn't be good as i have many graduation ceremonies, a wedding to attend and a long planned trip planned for this summer.
does using make-up, other facials(natural, bleaches, etc) make it worse or does it not matter?
should i minimize my sun exposure (which is very infrequent anyway). i notice that it is worse after a day out in the sun or heat.
I'd appreciate any feedback.
Thanks
SS

First of all, eczema can be treated very effectively by homeopathy--but you have to treat properly with a full case-talking, in person, with a qualified classical homeopath. Sometimes the eczema does get worse before it gets better (that means you'll experience a flare-up of your symptoms--but not that you'll experience a situation where you symptoms will spread all over your body before they all disappear!).

You will have to decide whether or not this is something you can stand--but recognize that you will be curing yourself of the eczema and its complications in a relatively short time with proper homeopathic treatment. There are plenty of things you could do to support the body's attempts to cure itself--eat fresh, healthy, foods that are full of nutrients and do supplement your diet with the proper fats (you can get more information about this in detail from your homeopath); get enough exercise and rest; limit your sun exposure (or at least take good precautions with sufficient sunscreen and physical barriers such as hats); and drink plenty of water to help the body eliminate accumulated toxins. These added supports won't do much to cure the eczema on their own, but they will help your body to function at its optimum capacity, especially once you've been prescribed an appropriate homeoapthic remedy.

There are many homeopaths in Toronto you can seek out and work with. If you would like a referral, you can write to me in using the message feature on this BB and I'll send you a list of some very nice, capable homeopaths you can find easily in the Toronto area.

i have clear my posting a bit! what i described, was the worst case scenirio that i suffered from last summer.
right now, it is minimum but it burns and my skin appears thick and unhealthy. it is dry at the spots and moisturizes don't work one bit! the flaking, darkness, etc has reduced substantially.

Hi SNS,
I agree with Divina,
But if you think we can help you out here, you'll have to give us much more information than that.

BUt I would expect a good prognosis for you since the onset of your problems seems only since Feb 2001.

Regards,
doctorleela

well, thanks for the input so far..but i don't know how much better an explanation i can give...
but over the last few days i have been treating it naturally with a face mask of yogurt and mint leaves..its helped immensely..also i have been litterally drinking safflower oil with my salad regularly..i notcie that the bumps, scaliness, itching is gone but there is a hint of darker complexion on the areas that were affected.
also, i am way too lazy to treat my shoulders and hands..so those areas are still quite bad.
thanks

I'm glad your face responded to the herbal treatment.

The "explanation" consisits of homeopathic details that are part of a complete homepathic case taking. What you have described above is the chief conmplaint which is 1/10 of the entire history.

doctorleela

Dear sns
the medicine more close to your complaints is Kali Sulph . It may be recommended in 30th potency and avoid exposure to sunlight.

how is exposure to the sun related to exzema? it is however very true; after some exposure on saturday i am seeing traces again. also its not only sun exposure...heat is bad too?
kali sulfi? whats that? is taht somethign that is available through prescription?
thank you all for you support so far.
does make-up make the conditions worse? i am having to attend several occasions where i have to dress up and make up is becoming almost obligatory..i notice that were i wear my kajal (eyeliner) on my eyelid, the eczema is particularly bad (very very dry).

SNS,
I had bad excema through my childhood and into my 20's. It actually cleared up pretty well after the birth of my children. Don't know why, but now I only get occasional small patches of it.

When it was at its worse, I didn't wear makeup. I also used light body lotions. Heavy creamy lotions trap the sweat (as does makeup) and can irritate the excema.

The best treatment I found for relief was a swim in the ocean. In the winter I would take a salt bath. Would clear the excema RIGHT UP. Hope this helps until you can get to a good homeopath!
