I am interested in milk alternatives that meet the following requirements:

Cheap
Easily available
Provide equivalent to 800 mg Calcium for men, 1300 mg for women, per day. 3 glasses of milk provide this easily.

I have exhausted my research but not been able to find something that meets the above criteria, thus enforcing the milk as the only choice.

Similarly, expanding on this, please let me know the dairy alternatives that provide equivalent or better quality of proteins & calcium etc.

FF, you should really open another thread if you want to enquire where to find things. I started this thread to discuss what Hahnemann wrote in the Organon about diet, lifestyle, etc....

There is a large number of alternative sources of calcium as opposed to dairy products. All green, leafy vegetables contain calcium. Great sources are kale and collards, beets and turnip tops. Although spinach contains calcium it also contains an enzyme that makes it less easily absorbed by the body.

Other good vegetable sources of calcium are dried peas and beans, such as lentils and chickpeas.

Most fruits, also, contain calcium. Oranges are a good source as well as concentrated fruits such as prunes, dates and figs.

Raw nuts and seeds also provide calcium. Raw sesame seeds are especially good sources and can be sprinkled on salads.

Probably the best non-dairy sources of calcium are salmon and sardines, both canned with bones.

since cancer is such a serious issue and time is of the essence, it makes sense that a change in diet could buy a person some more time. if i had cancer i would cut out sugar and all empty calories and try to eat an organic diet heavy on dark green leafy veggies. conventional doctors told a former coworker of mine to go vegetarian. i don't know if this would make a difference but if i were going to eat meat i would eat small amounts from organic, free-range sources.

i have delayed onset food hypersensitivity. i started removing foods from my diet 11 years ago. it got to the point where i could only eat a few foods. mung, black, aduki beans, tapioca flour and ostrich. just about everything else caused severe problems.

it finally hit me one day that it is not the food that is doing it to me it is me that is doing it (or the problem that i have).

i'm convinced that homeopathy is undoing some of this problem. my best evidence is that i can eat all the rice i want. in the past, i'd be walking around like i was drunk and on vicodin --- a fogged up dizzy feeling with severe brain dysfunction.

Very simple, but that's really it, isn't it? Well said.

As for doctors: they are not necessarily knowledgeable about nutrition. I so wish everyone knew this, but you know how it goes.

a friend's son had an operation where they removed all his guts(set them aside) and then put them back. That evening for dinner at the hospital they gave him fried chicken and chocolate cake.

An MD friend of mine suffered from arthritic complaints. I asked her to try cutting out the nightshade products (she loves ratatouille). She did and had great relief from her complaints. She then said, why don't they teach us that kind of stuff in Uni? Sad but true. The funding pharmaceutical companies have nothing to gain from patients becoming well.
