yes there is,
we would need to know your complete symptoms. if this is a repetitive strain type injury(ie there is a cause such as playing tennis/golf etc) then please include:
time of day when pain is worse
if pain is better or worse from hot or cold applications, or rooms
if pain is better or worse from movement, or position and what type?
what is the quality of the pain?
is it constant, throbbing, etc?
anything unusual about your condition?
how do you feel mentally when you have the pain?
Hopefully we can help you with some of this information...the more info the better!

if this is a chronic problem with no injury causing it, this will require a full case and if so it is best you see a professional homeopath!
take care,
Fiona

Question

Neeraj

How would you describe the pain? What adjective would you apply to it?

Are you saying that the pain subsides with hot applications and cold applications, but is worse when the temperature is mild?

What Fiona was asking was whether going from a hot room to a cold atmosphere or vice versa also affects the intensity of pain.

What is the effect of pressure, i.e. have you used a pressure bandage for support?

Which side of the body is the complaint on? Or, is it on both sides?

Do you have any other complaints, even completely unrelated?

Thanks for your quick reply.

I'll try my best to provide you more info.

I am 40 years old male.

The injury was caused one and half years ago because of the repeatative pulling of the lawn mover rope.
My doctor has given me three cortizone shots and told me that no more could be given. He suggested "minor" surgery. At present, I am taking VIOXX pain killer.

>> time of day when pain is worse
Mostly early morning hours. Sometimes occurs during evening hours too.

>> if pain is better or worse from hot or cold applications, or rooms
The pain subsides by applying hot and cold paks.
I am not sure what you mean?

>> if pain is better or worse from movement, or position and what type?
Pain increases with movement. Even normal moving of the hald while walking causes pain.

>>what is the quality of the pain? is it constant, throbbing, etc?
It is constant.

>> anything unusual about your condition?
Not to my knowledge.

>> how do you feel mentally when you have the pain?
Depressed, annoying.

Thanks again.

Regards.

Hi!

A very good remedy for "Tennis Elbow" is Arnica.

I am curious to know--have you had any x-rays done on this arm, to determine whether or not there has been any damage to cartilege or bone--and not just strain?

If you have any information like this to go on, then it would be easier to focus on the best remedy for this particular problem. The cortisone and operation options are very severe for symptoms which were caused by overexertion.

May be Ruta, because of the pulling history, which might have affected the ligament that holds the "head" of the radius.

Hello again
well maybe i can ask more specific questions as it is really not yet clear what the remedy could be! As Divina recommended, it would be helpful to know more about the nature of the injury as well: is it just inflammation of the ligament or is there strain of the muscle, or involvement of the tendon or cartilage?

How does it feel when you put a hot pack on it?
How about a cold pack?
How about pressure, both hard and light?
What are the specific times of aggravation?
Can you describe the pain more specifically? (some examples: sore, contracting, aching, throbbing, burning, boring, cramping, drawing, lancinating, sticking, pressing, scraped, tearing etc etc!)
does the weather affect it? the temperature of a room?
how would others describe your temperament when this injury is bothering you the most? Please get as specific as possible!
Anything unusual that goes with the pain when you have it? For instance, some people get restless with pain, some people can't move, they are so tired, some people get dizzy, some get thirsty, some feel worse from talking, some are irritated about specific things etc: it could be anything at all! This is the type of information that can really help us out.
regards
Fiona

For tennis elbow I have had success with Bryonia 6x for about 3 weeks. I have to say though once you have had the cortisone injections it is much harder to cure but I have done it!!

So many replies!! I am impressed.

So many questions.... I will try again.

Let me start by saying I am not a doctor and won't be able to provide techical info related to the injury.

Long ago, my doctor took an X-ray and told me that it is related to tendon. Though, these terms don't make much sense to me.
I could try to ask him for more techical details.

>> How does it feel when you put a hot pack on it?
Feels little better.

>> How about a cold pack?
Certainly feels better.

>> How about pressure, both hard and light?
Application of pressure in the elbow region, causes shooting pain.

>> What are the specific times of aggravation?
Any time during the day/night.

>> Can you describe the pain more specifically?
It feels sore. My right hand (from elbow down) feels swollen and heavy.

>> does the weather affect it? the temperature of a room?
I did notice that hot room makes it worse.

>> how would others describe your temperament when this injury is bothering you the most?
Sad and annoyed.. I try to not to be with others. Sitting in my room alone and listening to music does help.

The swelling of the right hand is troublesome for me since I work on computers.
I've also noticed that walking with normal movement of the hald causes pain. I've started keeping my hand in my pocket during these walks.

I've tried using a special band recommended by my doctor. It is used by people suffering from tennis elbow problem. It helps only if the front part of the hand is not swollen.

I try not to use put high pressure on my right-hand, if possible, like lifting any heavy item, even using my left-hand to open van doors, etc.

I hope all this info will help.

As an addon, I know about Arnica little bit. I found it in a nearby store (strength 30C). I've tried taking it. I does help a little.

Regards.
