Hi All

I am a homeopathic student and i am looking for a remedy for a potential case study, but am having great difficulty in finding a suitable remedy. I know it is hard to say as you guys do not have the whole case but i am looking for a remedy for a shy / quiet male who 'doesnt really like people' and feels uncomfortable in the prescence of people especially strangers. His childhood had a lot of sucicide and death in it (relatives that were close to him) and a bit of violence although this was not directed at him. He also has a lot of mucous in his throat (especially after eating) and suffers from twitching of his muscles. Sorry this is a bit garbled but i would appreciate any remedy suggestions. I think i am really looking towards a syphilitic remedy and have so far come up with Merc.....my favourite so far. Please please give me your suggestions. Thankyou to all that reply.

Question

Hoppitt and Snoopy

Care to repertorise, so we can see why you chose those remedies? Two very different choices, I would have thought.

Cheers.

A syphilitic remedy would have been better indicated if the suicides and violence would have been directly related to him. Here the history suggests that there is loss of near ones (element of grief) and also violence that is not against u and about which u can not do much...often leads to irritability. Have a look at Sepia.

It was very simple. I looked up mucus in the throat, and twitching of the muscles and thuja was there as either a 2 or 3 in both rubrics--I can't remember now, and I already knew about thuja being shy and very uncomfortable around people, believing that if people really knew him, they wouldn't like him.

Thanks guys for your responses. I had looked at all of those remedies you had suggested and i just cant realy choose between them. I think Thuja probably fits best. However i am finding it hard to repertorise the 'dont really like people' or he 'feels uncomfortable around people' any ideas. The best i have come up with is

mind, company, aversion but this is really big

Also another of his symptoms was he doesnt like peole looking at him or staring at him, he has to pretend to be busy like playing with his mobile or something so he doesnt see people looking at him. He also finds people very arrogant and ignorant. Any ideas on how i can repetorise the staring / looking symptom and can you also just clarify that these symptoms match with Thuja. From my research i think they do i just cant repertorise these two.

Thanks again for the help. Look forward to reading your replys.

From Robin Murphy repertory you could possibly use rubrics from Mind chapter:

Room, full of people agg. and
Looked at, cannot bear to be.

But neither of them have Thuj. but they seem to fit.
Keep on searching....

Go to mind, fear and look down the fear sub-rubrics. I saw fear of being looked at, fear of appearing in public, public speaking, and so on, and it's starting to look more like Lyc. to me at this point. Also Mind, critical; or Mind, Censorious; Mind, Egotistical; or Mind, Haughty--more for Lycopodium.

Dear Pip, keep on searching is good advice, because a good place to start is with the question of wiether the fact that a person is shy is a disease symptom at all.
